some bloke claimed he was from BT and said there was someone trying to hack my internet. i just said i'm in my 80s, live alone and don't even use the internet, then he just hung up. weirdly, it got me outta bed since i'm on the night shift!!!

These folks really need to be put to an end, plain and simple. I’ve added them to my iPhone’s blocked callers list but somehow they just keep ringing back. Wish the block function actually did what it says!

When they ring and no one answers, it’s usually because an automated system is trying to connect you with a sales rep, if one is free. If nobody picks up after a few rings, the call just drops. Sometimes, even if you pick up, it’s dead silent ’cause no agent is free at that moment. Openreach should really keep an eye on these auto-diallers and slap fines on companies that do this annoying thing. I’ve dealt with them loads, turned down what they’re selling, and asked to be taken off their list, but still they keep calling.

About the previous comment, the caller was offering an air source heat pump. It’s an actual alternative to a boiler that works by drawing heat from the outside air, kinda like how a fridge moves heat from inside to outside in your kitchen.

Someone called me trying to flog a boiler, said I’m signed up with CPS, and that the government will give me £800 a year for 7 years through some new scheme they’ve just rolled out. Apparently the boiler runs on electricity and - get this - fresh air! They said current boilers use gas, which is gonna get taxed soon by the government. This new one is meant to be cheaper to run because it uses fresh air, which supposedly won’t be taxed - yeah, right! Honestly, I don’t know how they manage to say all that stuff so seriously without cracking up.
