I got a call from a number with a local area code, so I thought I’d pick up. It turned out to be a recorded message talking about a supposed Amazon account charge of around £399. The automated voice told me to press 1 if I wanted to talk to Amazon. I pressed it and someone picked up straight away, which felt shady. When I asked if this was a scam, the caller hung up right away. Checking the number online, it seemed to be linked to a private address on Sullivan Road in Camberley.
