Just like others have said, there was a brief silence before this guy came on with a thick Indian accent. He started talking about an issue with my internet. I asked who was actually on the phone and then he suddenly ended the call.

Got a call earlier today from someone saying they were Sky trying to sort out my internet speed. Told me to visit Speed test[###] or something like that. I was going to mess around and keep chatting but soon lost interest and just ended the call. The number showed as starting with 0183. Then they called again, but my wife picked up and quickly ended it. After that, the same dodgy caller rang back asking why we hung up. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be Virgin Media about my internet. I asked what was wrong and he said there were issues. I told him I’m not even a Virgin customer, so how would they know? Ended up hanging up. Total scam, my internet’s fine - just got a new router not long ago! The guy had a horrible connection and spoke with an accent I struggled to understand. Felt like harassment and definitely not a legit call.

Someone rang me saying they were from Virgin Media about my internet speed being slow. I asked who they wanted to speak to and he said the main account holder. When I asked who that actually was, he just guessed it was me! I then asked him who he was, and he hung up straight away. Totally a scam, no doubt about it!

Got a few calls like this lately, all pretending to be Sky about some broadband issue. They ring from numbers like 01338533641, 01494297243, and 01699267384. It's funny, we only started getting these scams after getting a new phone line put in a couple of weeks back. Makes me wonder if someone inside Sky is leaking our details to these fraudsters!

My partner picked up a call about Virgin Media at first, but then the same number called again a couple more times. Each time, the person was absolutely vile, shouting awful insults and even threatening to set fire to our home and hurt me, my partner’s mum and our little girl. We’ve had to report it to the police now, it’s just been terrifying.

Right at the start of the call there was this awkward quiet, then it suddenly clicked over to some guy with a strong Indian accent talking loud like he was in a busy call centre. He said something about SKY and checking on my internet. I called him out straight away and hung up quick. These calls seem to be popping up loads these days. Definitely just a scam trying to trick people.

I got two calls from this number. I picked up the first time but not the second. The person said they were from Virgin and told me my internet speed wasn’t right. They wanted me to look at the lights on my router and asked me to go online using my laptop or phone. I was about to follow their instructions since my internet was acting up, but something felt off so I just ended the call. Also, the call was really poor quality.

Yeah, it was someone from Newtown Powys pretending to be from BT internet. They asked me to switch on my computer because apparently my internet speed was slow or something. I wasn’t buying it, sounds like the usual scam. The phone number looked like it was from the UK, somewhere round Clevedon, maybe? But the voice definitely wasn’t Bristolian, more sounded like someone from Calcutta or somewhere like that.

I received a rather peculiar phone call from what appeared to be an Indian call centre. The gentleman claimed he was based in Bangalore, despite the fact that the number he was ringing from was meant to be local to Clevedon here in the UK. Admittedly, there's a BT office over in Bangalore, but it was quite clear he wasn't phoning from there. His request was for me to check my internet speed, but when I told him that I was unable to do so as I don’t possess a computer, just a phone, he insisted it wouldn’t work with mobile devices. (It's important to stay vigilant; these scammers often aim to take control of your laptop in order to access your bank details and exploit you). I confronted him directly about his scamming intentions, but he was relentless, like a terrier with a toy. Eventually, I let forth a few choice words in Hindi, which thankfully prompted him to back off.

Got a call again from this number just now. There’s this weird pause, then a beep, and a woman’s recorded voice saying “goodbye” before the line instantly cuts off. Seems like one of those dodgy call centres that blast out calls to loads of random people but don’t have enough staff to actually chat when someone answers. I was under the impression this kind of thing was meant to be banned by now.

had a call from someone saying they were with bt openreach, talking about my internet speed issues. they asked me to download anydesk so they could get into my pc. when that didnt work, they switched to teamviewer and instant remote to try and access my emails and bank stuff. i got suspicious and ended it there. sounds like a pretty clever scam to me?
