Many report aggressive, rude behaviour and background office noise. The number frequently rings without leaving messages or disconnects upon callback, often playing recorded unobtainable tones. Users strongly advise caution, blocking the number, and avoiding engagement, especially with requests to use computer commands. It is widely considered a harassment and phishing attempt targeting vulnerable individuals, including the elderly. Genuine BT communications rarely use unsolicited calls to address technical faults, so any such contact should be independently verified.

Our landline rang while my husband was home on his own, but he didn't pick up. Sounds like the smartest move with this number is just to ignore it, especially since we don't know anyone from Bradford.

This number rings loads, but never leaves a voicemail. The area code shows it’s from Bradford, and I can hear what sounds like a busy office with people chatting in the background. I’m on the TPS and my number is ex-directory, so I don’t get why they keep calling.

This afternoon, a lady with an accent I couldn’t place called me, said her name was Gracie, and claimed my computer was compromised. I asked if this was something a lot of folks were dealing with, and she said yes. I told her I’m surprised this wasn’t all over the news, then just ended the call.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT’s tech team, warning me that my internet would be cut off in two days. I told her I’ve heard this before and already rang BT who said they don’t have any technical department. I asked her to provide more info so I could check who she actually worked for, and she just ended the call straight away.

I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who kept asking for the person who owns the number. I told him they weren’t here, but then he started asking how old I was because apparently, he wanted to marry me. I was a bit shocked and said, “Sorry?” Then out of nowhere, he said he wanted to sleep with me and asked if I wanted his email or something. I didn’t stick around and just ended the call straight away.

This number rang me today but it never got through cos I’ve got a Bat call blocker phone. I paid about 65 quid for two handsets and then £2.50 each month for caller ID. The best bit is my phone doesn’t even ring when a spam call comes in! It’s brilliant! Those scammers don’t stand a chance anymore. I always try to tell mates to get one too! Just to be clear, I’m not working for BT or anything, I’m retired and proper fed up with all these scam calls!

Watch out for this one, it’s proper dodgy. Ringed my missus out of the blue and chatted about our internet cutting out, just like some folks have said here. What freaked me out was she said she was on her own, getting ready to head out shopping, and this bloke actually said he’d come over to take her! Bit odd, especially with a number that’s supposed to be from Bradford. How do these scammers keep getting away with it? Surely something can be done?

I got a call from a guy with a strong Indian accent, barely made out what he was saying. Claimed he was calling from BT about someone using my internet at midnight. I told him that was me, and then he went on about hackers accessing it again at 4 in the morning. I just told him to buzz off! I only answered because it was a UK number. Seriously, BT, sort your stuff out!

Got a call from this number today but I didn't answer and they didn’t leave any voicemail. Usually, calls like this don’t even make a noise on my phone, which is strange. I’m guessing they might be using a legit landline, so maybe BT could track it down if they tried. Sometimes I can’t help think that someone working for BT overseas might be selling our numbers to these scammers. Also, when you ring BT to report a broadband problem, they always want your phone number in case the line drops, which makes me a bit suspicious.

This bloke called me and asked if I could hear him alright. I figured right away it was one of those spammy cold calls, so I told him straight up to remove me from whatever list they had. Then he just went off, told me to “f#ck myself.” I wasn’t sure I heard that right, so I said “sorry?” and he kept repeating it nonstop. I just ended the call after that, couldn’t be bothered with the rubbish.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent who said his name was 'Robin' and claimed he was from BT. He reckoned my internet would be disconnected for 10 days unless I did something on my computer and entered some details. I told him I wasn’t interested, then he started threatening me saying the cops would come round if I didn't cooperate. I get these dodgy calls fairly regularly, so I usually just play along for a bit.

To explain how the number is supposedly "unobtainable" yet still found, it’s pretty straightforward. If you ring them back, the phone picks up straight away with no rings at all and instantly plays a recorded unobtainable tone. After a bit, most of these systems will just cut you off. Setting this up isn’t that tricky if you’ve got the proper equipment. As for this caller, they just muttered something and immediately ended the call.

Received a call which abruptly ended without a word being spoken - could hear some sort of office commotion in the background. It certainly gives off that dodgy vibe, reminiscent of those fraudulent "BT engineer" calls we've had several times lately; they too had that same background hubbub. I wouldn’t trust it one bit.

Got a couple of calls from this number earlier today. Since it wasn’t showing up on my caller ID and looked unfamiliar, I didn’t pick up. Then about half an hour later, my partner answered when they rang again. The person on the other end, who spoke with a strong Asian accent and was hard to understand, claimed to be from Openreach. He said there’s an issue with our broadband and it would have to be turned off for 10 days. My missus got a funny feeling and quickly hung up. Not sure what he was really after though.

Just got a call from 01274859681, but when I answered there was total silence, then some automated voice said “goodbye.” I checked the number using 1471, and it showed up normally. Tried calling it back though and all I got was a ‘number unobtainable’ signal, which is happening way more often now than getting calls from ‘withheld’ or ‘unknown’ numbers. Makes me wonder how it’s possible for a landline number to show up but you can't actually get through when you ring it!
