I've just received a rather dubious phone call from an individual of Asian descent who purports to be affiliated with Windows. He was insistent that I download certain software so that a technician could remotely access my computer. As if I would fall for that! Absolute nonsense!

Received a rather curious phone call today, purporting to be about my Windows operating system. Naturally, I told the chap I wouldn’t be engaging in any discussions about Windows with him. He had the audacity to ask me why. So, I explained that for one, genuine colossal companies like Microsoft don’t bother with cold calls. Secondly, charlatans like him, pretending to represent them, are clearly up to no good. I suggested he scram back to Eastern Asia where he belongs and try earning a legitimate wage, rather than attempting to dupe unsuspecting folks. Honestly, the nerve of some people!

It seems this number is linked to unsolicited emails promoting AVC, a scheme claiming to enhance your computer's performance. I have a sneaky suspicion that this could be the same group of individuals I encountered issues with a couple of years back. Take heed, folks-steer clear of this lot!

I got a call on our home phone from this number, but when I answered, there was silence on the other end. So, I hung up straight away and decided to look it up here. Honestly, whenever I get calls from numbers I don't recognise and there's a pause before anyone speaks, I tend to cut the line without hesitation.

Some bloke rang me saying my 'Windows computer' had sent him loads of messages or something. He said he was calling to sort the problem out. Told me to switch on my computer. But when I started asking him a few things, he just cut me off.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying there was something wrong with my Windows. I told him yeah, sure, I do have windows - I was actually looking through one at that time! Played along pretending to be a bit clueless and kept him chatting for a bit. It felt so good to finally hit the block button on my phone. He won’t be calling me again, but I bet one of his mates will ring soon enough!

Got a call like 10 mins back. A bloke with an Indian accent said he was from some Windows whatever. Had a similar call last week but that number was blocked. This time I just stayed quiet, then as he kept saying ‘hello?’ I just ended the call. Would love to mess with them but can’t be bothered. Honestly, just hanging up is the easiest way.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft Office, saying I needed to log into my computer to sort out some issues. The caller couldn’t explain when I supposedly reported any problem. When I said no and wouldn’t log in, they started being really rude and called me names before just hanging up. Definitely don’t think this was a legit call with that kind of awful attitude.

Just like loads of people here, I got this call from a woman with a foreign accent who couldn’t hear me properly. After a few tries, she just hung up. Typical spiel really - one of those "I’m calling from, uh, Microsoft" scams. It’s pretty funny how they try to keep you talking without any clue who they’re actually calling. They usually have to pause and look at their notes before dropping the “Microsoft” line. You’d better not trust them if they want you to carry on!

A woman with a strong accent called saying I had some issue with my computer. I struggled to understand her properly. I told her I wasn’t having any computer troubles and ended the call. Then about five minutes after, she phoned again but I just let it ring out to the voicemail, and she never left anything.

I had a call again from a woman saying she was from Windows. Since it was a UK number, I picked up. The first time she called, it was a different number and she said her name was Victoria (definitely didn’t sound like a Victoria at all). She then told me there was a problem with my computer and that it was sending error alerts to them. She asked if my computer was switched on. I told her I hadn’t used it for the past month and she just ended the call! So frustrating.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, stating they had discovered a virus lurking on my computer. The individual was exceedingly pushy, urging me to sit at my computer so she could guide me through the process. However, when I asked her to verify my name or any personal details, she refused to provide any clarity. To make matters worse, her heavy accent made it quite challenging to follow what she was saying. Quite a dodgy situation!
