I received a rather unsettling call today claiming that my email account had been compromised and urging me to log in immediately. I promptly refused to grant him access to my computer-absolutely not happening! There appeared to be another person chiming in from behind him, adding to the sketchiness of the situation. I eventually lost my patience and said I’d investigate the matter myself, requesting that he provide some contact information. Unsurprisingly, he wouldn’t budge on that front, so I simply hung up the phone.

I received a phone call on my mobile earlier today from this number, claiming to represent the cyber crime unit. They informed me that my old AOL email address was allegedly dispatching a large volume of emails and photos. The timing was unfortunate, as I was anticipating a call from a family member in the Bradford region, whose area code is similar. So, I rather foolishly returned the call after noticing it was a missed one. A man with a foreign accent identified himself as part of the cyber crime unit and assured me they would ring back once I was home from work. Well, I'm still sitting here waiting for that call!
