They keep ringing me but just hang up straight away, and you can hear loads of background chatter like it’s one of those call centres. For anyone with BT dealing with this, here’s a tip: after you pick up one of these calls, just dial 1572 from your landline, hit 1, and then do what it says to add the last caller to your own blocklist. It’s helped me loads!

After seeing others’ posts, I just tell anyone saying they’re from "BT" that I’m already with BT, that they have my contact details and address, so they can just send me a letter explaining what’s wrong. Not once have I ever gotten anything in the post from them though.

Got a call on my home phone yesterday. Some guy with an Indian accent said he was from BT Outreach and claimed my broadband was patchy. I told him everything was fine on my end, but he just kept going on. I eventually told him I wasn’t interested in listening to rubbish and just ended the call. Seems like a total scam to me. Nearly all the calls I get on my home phone turn out to be scams, which backs up what others have said before. Today, someone tried to sell me BT broadband, but I don’t even have that service. What got me mad was that I was soaking my feet and had to wipe dry the floor after walking to the phone. Some bloke rang me saying he was from Openreach warning me about some dodgy business on my internet. I told him the only dodgy thing here was his scam call. Then he asked why I thought I was so important and kept bothering me, so I just hung up. Honestly, Openreach wouldn’t be that cheeky or call you out of the blue about illegal stuff like that. I ignored the call since I was otherwise occupied, and it made me think-if they were a legitimate caller, surely they would have reached out to my mobile instead. I decided to check the caller ID using 1471, and lo and behold, it was indeed that Bradford number once more. Definitely feels like a scam, if you ask me!

On the 18th of July, 2022, I received a call on my home phone, which is quite a rarity since I primarily rely on my mobile. The chap on the other end introduced himself as Brian, claiming he was ringing from BT regarding my internet service. Got a call from someone saying they were from BT Openreach, talking about "hacking on my phone line." This guy, calling himself Edward, asked me to count the lights on my router. Didn't buy it for a second - felt like the start of some dodgy business, so I just said no.

No idea what was going on, I answered and all I got was a quick "Oh." Since I gave my company name, I guess they were trying to trick people who own houses or something like that.

I remember watching something like this on BBC 1 early in the morning with Rav Wilding trying to warn folks about these scams. Someone pretending to be from Virgin Media called me up and told me to test my internet connection. Next, they wanted me to visit a website to check my internet speed, then suddenly they said I should download an app called TeamViewer QuickSupport from the Play Store on my phone. That's when I decided to just cut the call.

I received an abrupt greeting from a woman over the phone, and she immediately ended the call, which made me suspicious that she was setting the stage for a potential scam. Surprisingly, the call didn't disconnect, so I decided to keep the line open, assuming it would result in significant costs for the caller. However, I started to fear that they might be somehow charging me instead. Eventually, my nerves got the better of me, and I lost my courage after an hour and hung up.

Just got a call where all they said was 'hello' before cutting off. Pretty sure they were just checking if the number was active. I’m guessing I’ll probably be getting some dodgy scam calls soon enough, which is super irritating. I usually ignore calls from numbers I don’t recognise, but since my mum’s in hospital, I figured I better pick up all calls just in case it’s something important about her.

Beware of a scam pretending to be from Virgin Media. They ring you up, get you to do speed checks on your broadband, then claim you’re owed a refund because your speeds aren’t what you’re paying for. Their real aim is to trick you into handing over money, pretending it’s for this ‘refund’. I nearly fell for it, especially since I wasn’t feeling great that day. Luckily, they attempted to charge more than what was in my account, which stopped me just in time. Don’t let them catch you off guard!

Some bloke claiming to be a computer whiz tried to get me to turn on my PC, which was actually off. He was pushing me to switch it on so he could "fix" something. Clearly a dodgy scam, I hung up straight away. Proper dodgy stuff, watch out!

Tried blocking this number earlier today but somehow it rang me again a couple hours later! Could be that it's a fake, spoofed number or something dodgy. Just wanna warn everyone, there's nothing wrong with Virgin Media or their internet speed, everything's working perfectly on my end. Pretty sure it's scammers behind this, so watch out!

Got a phone call from someone claiming to be Virgin, saying my internet had issues. They wanted me to visit some weird site, something like www.routa-rinfo.com through a W3 validator page or whatever. I cut them off and said I’m in cybersecurity and this call will get reported. The guy just goes "okay brother" and hangs up. Definitely came across like a call centre in India with lots of background noise.

This morning, around 10.20 am on 16/06/22, I got a ring from 01274214503. A lady on the line claimed to be from BT, saying there was an issue with my internet because of scammers. But my BT connection is fine, so I told her she sounded like the scammer and ended the call. After that, I logged a scam complaint on BT’s website to flag the incident.
