Got a call from someone claiming to be British Gas, but last week it was from another number. When I refused to chat, they gave me a phone number (011329 80901) and said if I wanted to call back, there’d be a 90-minute wait. Naturally, I didn’t bother calling it. Also tried looking up 01273 807038, but no luck there. I ended the call, and they rang me back three times in a row right after.

I got a call from someone claiming she was our energy company but clearly wasn’t. I checked this site and noticed there's been over 1600 lookups on that number. So I told her, “I’m putting you on block right now, telemarketer.” She just replied, “As you wish” and ended the call. Honestly, she sounded pretty annoyed, so I didn’t push it any further.

I've had a run-in with this number too; they initially posed as Eon. They kept ringing me multiple times, despite my clear disinterest. Today, I received another call from that very same number, but this time they claimed to be Bulb. Talk about persistent!

this number has called me over 20 times pretending to be from opus. when i mentioned i got cheaper deals on money supermarket, the guy said his manager would ring me after her meeting. afterwards, i received about a dozen calls from a woman in blackpool saying she was from energy saver and that the first caller wasn’t really with opus but somehow linked to them. can you believe it? then the original number from brighton called again, this time saying he actually worked for money supermarket! such a confusing mess.

Got a call supposedly from Eon, but I could tell it was dodgy straight away. They kept mixing up my postcode with a different one, and this woman reading a script sounded like English wasn’t her first language. When I called it out as a scam and said they were ripping people off, she actually tried to defend herself a bit before hanging up. Luckily, I have a password set with Eon that anyone has to give before I chat about my bills - she didn’t know about that, but it was a handy excuse to cut things short.

They said the meter reader had taken the wrong reading and were trying to fix our account. Felt like a scam to me! Their questions were weird and they kept asking the same stuff over again when I said I wasn’t giving out any info since they should have it anyway. They did know our meter number though, and sounded pretty convincing at first.

I got a call from a bloke abroad claiming he was fixing problems with meters that were all mixed up at different places. He rattled off my address, somehow correctly mentioned our electricity provider, and even knew the unique code on the meter. Then he asked me to inform him when my contract ends. If they were legit, they’d have that info already. This smacks of a scam - they try to gather loads of details, including your contract expiry, then sign you up with a different company behind your back and pocket a commission.

If they were indeed legitimate, they would already possess that information, so I didn’t hesitate to send them on their way. They were rather pushy, so I insisted they drop me an email or send a letter instead. To my surprise, they claimed that wasn't an option, which I pointed out was their issue, not mine; I was not about to divulge any details over the phone.

This all strikes me as a ruse to snatch your contract end date and meter readings. They likely have your address and other personal details already. Once they gather that information, they can usher you over to a different supplier, lining their pockets in the process.

It started to feel a bit off when they kept asking more and more questions. I told them I’d wait for the invoice to arrive before doing anything. Got two calls from this number today. The initial one claimed to be from EDF, asking me to verify our supply number because of some supposed confusion with the meter readings. They actually read out the supply number so I knew they had it. Then, just a minute later, they rang again to say our tariff is up for renewal soon and wanted to discuss the terms. Received a call today from someone purporting to be from British Gas, insisting that our meter reading was inaccurate. He requested specific information from our most recent bill. I pointed out, rather curtly, that if he were genuinely representing British Gas, he would already have access to that information. I suggested he ring back in an hour. I received a rather odd call purporting to be from British Gas. The chap on the other end insisted that our business had been mistakenly charged for someone else's gas on our last statement, which I found quite hard to believe since we submit a meter reading each month. It struck me as peculiar when he requested to verify all my details from the bill. Then, to make matters even more baffling, he advised me to put a stop to any direct debit payments until this supposed error was sorted out. He mentioned that all future payments would need to be made manually! Quite fishy, if you ask me.
