Greenpeace UK got in touch with me after I signed their petition, asking if I wanted to join as a member. Sure, it’s a cold call, but when I signed up, I figured their privacy terms meant they might give me a ring. Got a missed call from Brighton, didn’t know who it was so I just ignored it. No voicemail or anything. Turns out it was Greenpeace - I did sign a petition a while ago, but I don’t remember agreeing to get calls from them. So I’ve just blocked the number. I was uneasy as I didn’t remember giving my mobile number, and they asked me to share my bank info for a direct debit. The caller tried to convince me that my sort code, account number, and other personal info they’d collected wouldn’t be misused. I strongly disagreed and ended the call straight away.

Got a call from Greenpeace in Brighton. The woman was quite polite, but she kept pushing for a £10 a month membership. I told her no, so she dropped the price to £3 a month. I still said no, then she rattled off some policy stuff and ended the call. Not harmful but pretty annoying, so I’ve blocked the number now to stop any more cold calls. You can also opt out on their site to stop them using your number!

It's Greenpeace ringing me up, asking for donations. When I rang the number back, I got a message saying to press 1 if I want to stop getting calls about their campaign. I like what Greenpeace do, but I honestly can’t afford to give anything right now...

I received the call on my landline and it was obvious straight away that it was a scam, so I didn't bother listening to the whole message. Like others have said, my home phone isn’t connected to any of my accounts, so regardless of what the recording said, I would have just ended the call anyway!
