For the past 15 minutes, I've been getting calls from this number and a couple of others, but they just keep hanging up on me straight away.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Protect Your Bubble. They were pushing washing machine insurance, saying my current one was nearly finished. Pretty sure it was a sales scam.

Got a call on our home phone, and they wanted to speak to my son, but he wasn’t around. They said it was about a warranty for our washing machine, which sounded suspicious since my son had nothing to do with buying it. Told them to stop calling us again. Pretty sure it was a scam.

It's one of those automatic diallers that rings your number randomly. If a customer service rep is free, it connects you, otherwise it just ends the call. The system remembers your number once it notices it’s live and will keep calling whenever a rep finishes a call. Basically, it won’t stop bugging you until you finally get through to someone. Best thing to do is block the number straight away if you pick up and find nobody on the line.

I get loads of unwanted sales calls, texts and emails all the time. You can try to opt out by contacting the companies straight away, but honestly, that didn’t do much for me. I’m planning to sign up for the Telephone Preference Service today, which is like a central do-not-call list. I'll check back next week to see if it actually reduces the amount of annoying calls I get. Fingers crossed it makes a difference!

Well, if it's someone familiar, they've probably got more than just our number - like our email or even where we live. So, if they're already connected with us, they don’t really need to cold call since they can reach us by other means. We really need to band together to put an end to all these unwanted sales calls. If we want to know who they are or their details, we should be the ones making the call, simple as that!

Total con artists. rang me up trying to sell an extended warranty on my washing machine, saying the original one had expired and they could cover it for another 1, 2 or 3 years for a fee. All they really want is your bank card info. The thing is, my machine is well over 15 years old, and I’ve never signed up for any warranty with them. They even called me by a completely made-up first name I use only for online shopping, so it’s clear they don’t actually know who I am. I just told them I wasn’t interested and cut the call straight away.
