Some bloke rang me saying he was from Openreach, saying he needed to get onto my computer to test my internet speed. I asked for his direct phone number to confirm, but he got all annoyed and instead gave me my own number as if it was his. I just laughed and the call suddenly got cut off.

I've received a call regarding the renewal of my fridge freezer warranty, which was a bit odd. They were completely off the mark, suggesting my problem might be with my boiler or a Hotpoint appliance. The irony is, I don’t even own a Hotpoint! They were after two hundred quid and refused to send any proper documentation about the plan. Quite persistent as well, might I add. When they called me back as promised, I made it clear that I wasn’t interested. It’s perplexing how they managed to obtain my information in the first place. I’ll be reaching out to my supplier to find out more. The caller had an Asian accent, if that helps.

I've been plagued by calls from this bloke about my boiler. As someone with a disability, I only interact with British Gas, yet this persistent caller just won't take the hint. It feels a bit like harassment, honestly. He has a distinct London accent and comes across as being from a different ethnic background. Honestly, I'm fed up with these incessant scam calls! I really wish the Telephone Preference Service would step in and sort this mess out.

Got two calls on the bank holiday Monday but wasn’t quick enough to answer coz of my mobility problems, and they hung up before I could pick up. The number showed up on 1471 but it didn’t ring any bells, so I didn’t bother returning the call - I never do if I don’t know the number. Judging by all the posts here, I’m guessing this is just another scam. When will the phone companies actually do something to stop these annoying calls? They may not get me, but I’m sure loads of vulnerable folks fall for it. It’s just shocking!

I received a phone call from a chap who said he was from British Gas, wanting to chat about boilers. I informed him that I hadn’t requested his call, and mentioned I’d be reporting him to the Telephone Preference Service. He seemed to find that quite funny, so I decided it was best to hang up.

On Saturday, the 24th of August 2019, we received a call in Bristol concerning the replacement of our boiler, which the callers insisted was necessary. We opted not to proceed with any arrangements until we had the chance to thoroughly review the documentation they claimed would be sent over. Frankly, we don't see the need to swap out our boiler, even with their tempting offer of £99. Who exactly are these individuals? They certainly didn't strike us as trustworthy or particularly persuasive in their approach.

I've been getting calls from this number like 3 or 4 times a week. They're trying to sell me insurance for a washing machine I've never even owned. It’s proper annoying. I asked the lady on the phone how she’d react if someone rang her mum trying to con her out of cash, and then she just dropped the call.

Got a call from this number today about my boiler homecare needing renewal. They’ve rang me a few times before. I told them I already renewed with British Gas back in February. I use a call blocker app and when I checked the blocked calls from today there were loads. I decided to unblock to find out who’s been ringing me. A call came through but I couldn’t pick it up quick enough. The number showed up but they left no voicemail or anything.

So, I looked up this number through the TPS and apparently it belongs to a firm named Home Protect 365 - seems like they deal with insurance or maybe home security. I’m not sure if it’s actually them calling or if someone else is using their number. I’ve reported them a few times to TPS already and they’ve told the company about the complaints, asking them to stop. Now, I’m just waiting to see if they actually do.

Like others have said, this number rang me up about a boiler deal - a 3 year plan for just £180 covering yearly servicing and parts. They wrongly said my boiler was a Bosch Worcester and ran on gas, but it’s actually a Thorn oil boiler. They refused to send me any contract until after I’d already paid via credit card. I reckon these con artists are operating out of that infamous Indian city called Brighton.

Someone rang me up saying my boiler service agreement was up for renewal, even though I’ve never had one with them. I asked for my money back as I hadn’t signed anything, and weirdly, they immediately wanted my bank info to process a refund! I kept pushing for a refund by cheque through the post instead, but they just ended the call. Quite dodgy if you ask me.

I keep getting these annoying promo calls and as far as I know, they’re breaking the latest GDPR rules. I looked up the number and it’s linked to something called Home Protect 365. You should definitely report them to the ICO so they can look into it and maybe slap them with a big fine if they’re doing wrong. Just google “how to report nuisance calls to ICO” and it’ll show you where to put in your complaint.

Got a call from a bloke with a really thick accent, trying to pitch some boiler service cover. Definitely felt like a dodgy scam to me.
