I got a call from a company claiming to be It's OK saying that my washing machine warranty had expired and I needed to buy it again. The funny thing is, my washing machine is like 20 years old so they obviously didn’t have any details about when I bought it. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

Picked up the phone and a girl who sounded quite young introduced herself as Jess. She was calling about my washing machine, saying the guarantee needed to be renewed. When I probed a bit she said she was from something called Appliances or something similar. I told her to send all the details in writing and promised to get back to her. In my experience, requesting paperwork is a smart move - if nothing turns up, it’s probably a scam, but if you do get something, you can take your time to check it properly.
