I received a call today from a company that goes by the name of "It's OK," claiming my washing machine warranty had expired and urging me to buy a new one. The cheek of it! My washing machine is two decades old, so naturally, they had no record of any original purchase. It’s clearly just another scam attempt.

Picked up the phone and a girl who sounded quite young introduced herself as Jess. She was calling about my washing machine, saying the guarantee needed to be renewed. When I probed a bit she said she was from something called Appliances or something similar. I told her to send all the details in writing and promised to get back to her. In my experience, requesting paperwork is a smart move - if nothing turns up, it’s probably a scam, but if you do get something, you can take your time to check it properly.
