Turns out it was from Amex. I rang their customer support straight away and they told me I had actually been in touch with their fraud detection department.

I got a text and an email saying there might have been suspicious activity on my AMEX card, so I rang the number they gave in the email and shared some info with them to sort it out. Later, I had my doubts it could have been a scam, so I called the AMEX number from my card itself. They confirmed it was genuinely their Fraud Protection Team handling it, but warned me to always use the number on my card in the future just to be safe.

I got a call from a number that said it was Amex fraud team, but after chatting through the app, they told me my account was totally fine. Seems like it might’ve been some spoofing thing going on!

Seems legit, but you really have to sign in and check with the agent to be sure. I get why some people might find it confusing.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the Amex fraud department. They told me there was a suspicious charge and asked for the 6-digit code sent to my phone or email to supposedly cancel it. Actually, they were scammers trying to grab that code so they could charge £699 on my card! At one point, they even suggested I enter the code into my phone keypad because it was “secure”, but I got really uneasy and said no. The more they pushed, the more alarmed I felt, so I hung up and rang the number on the back of my card myself. Amex confirmed it was a scam call, not them at all!

I recieved an email from Amex saying there was a big charge attempt on my account. I rang the 0800 number they gave in the email (there were two numbers, one was 01273) and spoke to their Fraud Prevention department. They’re sending me a new card now. Just so you know, it wasnt the usual Amex Platinum contact numbers they provided.

Received a rather alarming call today from someone purporting to be from American Express. They were saying that they'd spotted some dodgy activity on my account. I must admit, they had a believable spiel, even following up with a text and an email. However, my instincts kicked in when they demanded I provide a bit of my PIN to halt the suspicious transaction, stressing that I’d be held accountable if I didn’t comply. Once they started coming across as quite forceful, I decided to end the conversation. They continued to ring me, but I took the precaution of contacting Amex directly, and they confirmed it was all a scam.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Amex, trying to trick me into giving them my security code so they could steal money from my card. Really dodgy and not falling for it!

I just got a call from someone claiming to be from American Express about an 'Account Protection Service'. Sounded dodgy to me, like one of those scam calls. Definitely made me suspicious since I didn't expect any such alerts from Amex. Watch out, folks!

It appears that this number is being misrepresented as one from American Express, but I can assure you it isn't genuine. I just had a conversation with Amex after receiving a text alerting me to a potential fraudulent transaction on my card, which provided this number for their fraud team (I double-checked it against the one on my card). American Express have made it clear that this is a phishing message and that 01273 576 806 does not belong to them. I strongly advise against calling this number under the impression that it's related to American Express, because it absolutely isn't.

I got a voicemail from someone named Claire after a ring from this number. She asked me to ring back on an 0800 number, but I’m pretty sure that number isn’t actually linked to American Express. Seems dodgy to me.

I've received multiple calls insisting it's imperative I get in touch with American Express. The thing is, I don't even possess an American Express card! They provided me with an 0800 number to ring back, but I've chosen not to engage.
