I received a couple of calls recently that left me feeling quite uneasy. The first was from a woman who barely said a word before just saying goodbye and hanging up. Claimed to be from BT Openreach, promising to resolve my internet woes. When I mentioned I'd checked BT’s official site and found they don’t make calls, he stubbornly asserted he was Ofcom-registered to assist me. I called him out as a scammer, and he turned hostile, insisting he was just trying to provide help before abruptly hanging up. I managed to keep him on the line for a good 15 minutes, so hopefully, that put a spanner in the works for him and prevented him from pestering a few other unsuspecting souls. Quite amusing, really!

I've got call blocking on, I know they’re probably scams, but it’s so irritating, especially when I’m busy and have family and mates who might genuinely need to get through to me. I highly recommend investing in BT Call Guardian landline phones. They operate on a rather clever system where only the numbers you’ve saved are able to get through. If someone withholds their number, they’re required to announce their name before you decide if you want to engage with them or not. There’s even a handy button that allows you to block any persistent callers with just a press. It’s brilliant - I hardly receive any nuisance calls anymore! The display shows any missed call attempts, but my phone stays silent, which is just brilliant. Honestly, they’re the best phones I’ve ever used.

Had a similar experience. Yesterday I got a quiet call with no one speaking, then a robot voice saying "bye" before it ended.
