i got a call from american express's fraud team checking on a recent transaction they had put on hold. they gave me accurate info about the purchase and just wanted me to verify if it was mine before unlocking my card. seemed legit to me.

My mother-in-law answered a phone call from this number and they asked for me, saying they were from Amex. I don’t even live there anymore and just recently had my identity stolen. I’m pretty sure this is a scammer and probably connected to the fraudsters using my details.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from American Express who wanted to speak to (#####). Since I'm not the person they asked for, I asked why they rang me. They said they couldn't share any info without a security check first and gave me a reference number along with a "safe" number to ring back on. Feels like another dodgy scam to me.

Keeps calling my mobile and workplace, very relentless indeed! However, I can't get back to them as it says the call can't be connected. This leads me to think it’s likely coming from a call centre.
