They keep ringing but we just let it ring out to the answerphone. Definitely a scam call!

Got a call today on my office landline, proper annoying and sneaky! Does anyone know how to block a number on a landline? It’s a direct dial, not coming through the switchboard.

Got a call from 01273-324344 earlier today, Saturday, about 12:14pm. Since almost nobody rings me on my landline anymore and the number was unfamiliar, I just let it go to answerphone. Of course, no message was left. So, they’ve wasted their time just like I did mine. I’m curious how they even got hold of my number given that I’m ex-directory and signed up to the Telephone Preference Service. Seems that’s useless nowadays. I’m guessing it was an auto dialler just randomly calling numbers. From what I’ve read here, this looks like one of those scams doing the rounds at the moment.

I received a call from a woman with an accent that seemed quite African. She claimed to be from the IT department, yet didn’t specify which company she represented concerning my computer. Upon informing her that I didn’t actually own a computer, the line suddenly went silent. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

I've been receiving calls from this number on an almost daily basis. Frankly, I'm fed up and have decided not to pick up anymore-the relentless barrage of scam calls is making my life quite uneasy. It's about time the authorities took action on this issue! At my age, being in my 70s and enjoying retirement, I really ought to be free of such worries. The last thing I need is the added pressure of dodgy phone calls, especially since I can't stretch my budget to hire someone to block them.

Got a call today about some supposed issues with my computer. I’ve been in IT for like 35 years, so I know perfectly well there's nothing wrong with it. These kinds of calls are so bloody frustrating.

Some bloke rang me pretending to be from Microsoft, saying there was an issue with my PC that needed fixing and wanted to get access to it. I knew straight away it was a con. He sounded like he had an African accent and the call quality was rubbish, like he was miles away. I acted clueless and said I didn't really know how to use my computer, to which he got annoyed and told me I was wasting his time before hanging up. Honestly, I hope no one gets caught out by this!

I received a call from this number claiming to be regarding my computer, specifically something related to Windows 10. The line was dreadful, making it quite hard to follow what they were saying. The caller asked me to sit in front of my computer with a pen and paper, to which I promptly replied, "So you're looking to gain remote access, plant a virus, and then charge me for the privilege of removing it?" His response was an astonishingly frank, “Exactly!” Whether he truly grasped what I meant is anyone’s guess, but I certainly made my feelings clear in no uncertain terms before hanging up. He attempted to call me back three times, but I simply disconnected each time.

I’ve just had a rather peculiar phone call from this number right after I configured my new Sky modem (I’m still trying to figure out if it’s all working). When I picked up, there was hardly any sound on the line. Then, a chap with a foreign accent asked for me and proceeded to mention an issue with my computer. Given that I was certain everything was just fine, I decided it best to hang up.

Some bloke from India rang me saying my emails had nasty files that had to be deleted and started telling me what keys to press on my pc. After a bit, I told him "Look, this is getting too complex for me and I can handle deleting dodgy files myself." He then said, "No, these files are inside your Windows system." I told him, "I’m not even using Windows, I run Linux." He fumbled a bit and then just cut the call.

I saw this number listed as a missed call on my phone, though it didn’t actually ring earlier today. Maybe that’s because I’ve got a few numbers blocked. Seeing other similar calls and knowing the spiel they use, I’m pretty sure these lot have given it a go before. Honestly, whatever they want, just ignore it. Best thing is to block them straight away and carry on with your day like normal.

Saw this number pop up on my BT call blocker. Shame they were blocked, would've been funny to mess with them about how they apparently know about my computer issues - especially since I manage thousands of systems at work, so I'd definitely know if anything was wrong. Seems like I get a break from these calls for about three weeks, then suddenly I get bombarded for a couple of days.

There was nothing but silence at first, then this bloke Richard started jabberin on about my computer issues. He reckoned that being 97, I wouldn’t even own a computer, so him and his mates were just wasting my time with rubbish. Richard kept going anyway. I told him firmly to leave me alone. He didn’t stop. Received a rather dubious call today from someone with an accent that seemed a bit foreign. They started off with pleasantries, but soon went on to claim they were from a company and mentioned an issue with my computer. I promptly informed them that I work for Trading Standards, that I don’t possess a computer, and firmly demanded they take my number off their list. I even warned them I could track them down and have them prosecuted. They had the audacity to suggest that perhaps I had a laptop I’d forgotten about! I reiterated my demand, making it clear I’d pursue further action if necessary, but they continued to squabble, so I ended the call. Quite infuriating that these callers can pester individuals listed on the Telephone Preference Service, all while masquerading as local numbers and escaping consequences.

I was receiving daily calls from someone claiming they required access to my computer. The amusing part is, I don’t even own one! I eventually handed the phone to my son, who’s just finished university with a degree in computer science. As soon as he began to probe them with questions, they abruptly ended the call. This week, I got another call and I admit, I got rather irate with them, but thankfully, I haven’t heard from them since.

Like someone else mentioned, this caller had a British name but spoke with an Asian accent. He claimed there were two files on my PC that would cause trouble unless he sorted it out. I asked him that if he was aware, why hadn’t he done it before? Predictably, the line then dropped. It’s been ages since I got one of those fake computer problem calls. I picked up but there was silence so I just ended the call.

Typical caller with an Asian accent, this time calling himself "Clark" (as if he’s some sort of superhero?), saying he’s from the Windows support team. Claimed I had loads of suspicious files on my PC over the last few days and wanted me to check it. When I said I couldn’t as I didn’t have my laptop with me, he just ignored me and went back to his script. Told him straight up he was a scammer, he denied it. Do these people really think we’re that gullible? Blocked the number, but I’m sure they’re ringing from loads of others too.

Got a call from an Asian woman claiming she was from Microsoft, saying my computer was infected with a virus. I asked her to sort it out and then just ended the call. Definitely a scam.

Totally a scam call. I like to mess with them by asking stuff like, “Is this the best job you could find, working for shady crooks?” Helps pass the time and annoy them a bit.

Received yet another silent call, part of a rather annoying trend I've noticed lately. It's becoming quite the nuisance, isn’t it?

Absolute scam. They’ve called me 4 times in the past year, all about some virus on my computer. They wanna trick you into giving them remote access passwords. I’ve reported them 3 times, giving all the numbers to the City of London police, but apparently they don’t have enough proof to do anything.

This number has called me a few times claiming to be "Customer Support" for my computer. They dont really seem to know much about my PC except saying it’s "infected". All they want is to get remote access so they can scam you. Definitely dont trust them!

Just like others here, I got a call from some Asian bloke claiming to be from ‘tech support’ or somethin’ asking about ‘my computer’. I asked him which computer he meant, and he said ‘your personal computer’. When I asked where he was callin’ from, he didn’t say a thing. He kept going on about a computer so I told him I don’t own one, then he just hung up.

Impossible to get hold of when I tried calling back. So annoying - they’re never around to answer when these calls show up.

I keep receiving calls from this number, yet whenever I pick up, the line goes dead. It’s begun to really frustrate me!

24/07/2017 Bit dodgy - Got a call earlier from someone who sounded Indian, chatting on about computers. Told them they had the wrong number, and mentioned I'm on the TPS. They said, “Ooh! That’s ‘racist’!” Seriously? You shouldn't be saying stuff like that!

Got a call from this number earlier, but when I answered, the caller just hung up. I'm on the TPS list, yet these calls still keep coming. I reckon the safest thing is to let the answerphone pick up first so you can check who's calling before actually answering!

Just got one of those Windows scam calls again, this lot said they were from "Tech Help", insisting they had me on file with a Windows PC. I played along a bit, asking "How do you figure I have a Windows PC then?" They kept saying "You're in our system, mate." I told them I never signed up for any list. Got fed up in the end and told them I don’t own a Windows PC.

Got a call yesterday from some bloke in India, going on about how my windows have issues and might be open to hacking. He claimed he could fix it but i told him straight up i wouldn't give out any details about my laptop to strangers.
