Some bloke rang saying he was from D&G about my expired warranty, tried to offer me a deal if I renewed and asked for my debit card info. Something didn’t feel right so I asked what washing machine brand it was, he said Hotpoint but I’ve never even had one of those. I ended the call immediately. Total scam!

Then he just hung up. I actually had insurance with D and G and my number`s ex-directory, so how come they got my details?

Somebody tried to say my Bosch washing machine insurance was due for renewal. I told them no, my insurance is with Domestic and General. I said I'd ring them myself and get back to him. When I asked for his phone number, he just hung up. He was trying to get my bank details to "renew" the policy. Honestly, these people should be stopped!!!

?Allied & General? Called me with an 'offer' for washing machine protection. She asked for my name and address which I gave, then said she needed to verify my bank details, but only the account number, not the long code. That immediately sounded dodgy. Told her to ring me again next week. Checked your site and glad it confirmed it was a scam - cheers to everyone who helped!

They asked for a Mr Benjamin Henderson, so I asked who was calling and how they got my number. Turns out Benjamin Henderson had apparently bought a washing machine and this was the contact number he gave. I told them there’s never been a Benjamin Henderson at this address, past or present - then they just hung up.

I got a call from a bloke named Jason saying my washing machine cover needed renewing. He couldn’t say how old the washing machine actually was but mentioned that my husband (said by name) supposedly paid £76 three years back. Since I never bother with extra insurance and my husband doesn’t deal with any of the appliances, I told him the machine is around 8 to 10 years old and they had no right to claim any money. Then my husband walked in and told me to just hang up.

Yesterday 30/08/17, I got a call from a young bloke telling me my Washing Machine insurance had expired. I told him to send me the paperwork and said I’d sort it later since I was at work. He said he’d call back, but as soon as I refused to give my card info, he just ended the call. I’ve checked with my actual insurance and it turns out it was a scam. These people really ought to be put behind bars.

Some bloke called on Tuesday 29/08/2017 asking for Mr Phillips. I’d been up all night working and was half asleep so my answer was a bit slurred when I said no. He then said “thank god for that” and just hung up. Next day the same person rings again, asking the exact same question, “is this Mr Phillips?” I said, “are you the same one that called yesterday and hung up after saying ‘thank god for that’?” He chuckled and said yep, that was him, and hung up again.

When I phoned up to leave a message for the intended recipient, it quickly became clear I wasn't who they were anticipating. They abruptly ended the call, leaving me rather astonished. Feeling quite vexed by the lack of courtesy, I attempted to ring back not once, but twice, hoping to express my displeasure about their rude behaviour. Each time, I was placed on hold while an automated voice droned on about how my call was valued. After a good six or seven minutes, however, I was met with yet another automated response. This time, it simply bid me farewell and disconnected the line. Quite the experience, I must say!

This number popped up as unknown on my caller ID, so I just let it ring until it went to voicemail. Right when voicemail started, the call just dropped. Figured it was probably a spam or cold call, so I blocked it straight away. Looking it up here tonight, seems like I wasn’t wrong.

Got a near silent call earlier - picked up, waited, no response, said hello a couple of times, then heard a faint techno buzzing noise before they just hung up. Rang 1572 straight away to flag it as a nuisance, that number works for all the big UK providers like BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Plusnet. Everyone should report dodgy calls even if you don't see the number because your provider can trace it. Took the number to Ofcom’s nuisance call team too, hoping it’ll get sorted, maybe even fined. Honestly, they’d stop these idiots quicker if the penalties included jail time.

Had 2 calls today from someone claiming to be d&g. The woman just hung up when i asked what company d&g actually is. The man tried to sell me a discount but when i told him to remove me from his list since we've got different insurance now, he got all defensive and kept pressing about who my insurer was. i told him several times to take me off their database but he wouldnt stop asking about my current cover. Caller asked for my missus, she wasnt about so i answered. Said he was from DAG and that my washing machines insurance needed renewing. While he was talking, i checked my insurance details and saw it’s covered till 2020 through KnowHow, no sign DAG ever insured it. Felt like he was trying to copy the insurance info. He offered to cut the price from £90 to £70 a year, which is way more than what i already pay. When i told him this, he acted innocent and just hung up. Make sure you’ve got your insurance info ready! He might be legit, but he definitely told a dodgy story!
