I got a call from this number earlier, someone talking about upping my washing machine insurance, sounded a bit dodgy. They knew my name and where I live, which seemed off. When I started asking normal questions, they got kinda pushy. Didn’t feel right at all, so I just ended the call.

Someone called saying my washing machine cover was about to run out and offered to renew it cheaper. I already have cover with a big, trusted company and assumed it was them first. I got suspicious when they asked me to renew over the phone by giving my card or bank info, as my policy renews itself every year. I told them “No thanks” and ended the call. The person sounded really nice and even said they were concerned about scams too. VERY SUSPICIOUS!

Got a call from a woman who had a really loud tone, surname ‘Osborne’. She said she was calling about a recent car accident I supposedly had (which isn’t true). I thought about asking if she meant my mobility scooter but just decided to hang up and block her instead.

I'm investigating whether this caller could be legitimate. They claimed to be reaching out regarding the renewal of my washing machine care plan. They had my address and postcode, and even mentioned a previous service call for the machine. They proposed a £100 discount along with an annual fee of £66. I mentioned I’d get back to them, and they provided a contact number - 01273855237 - which I found belongs to a home care provider. It all feels a bit too good to be true, if you ask me.

They clearly weren't willing to identify themselves which might have helped us decide if we wanted to take the call. After reading all the comments, we've decided to just block the number completely.

A bloke calling himself Andrew rang from this firm about my washing machine insurance running out. When I mentioned it was covered by British Gas, he said that sometimes what I pay BG in a year would cover three years with them. Spoke to a guy who sounded quite smart, saying the maker of my washing machine told him my warranty was up (which isn’t correct, it’s definitely still valid). He pushed a new 3-year warranty deal, claiming we were low-risk so got a special discount!!! He never once said which brand the washer was and couldn’t say when I bought it, so I stayed really suspicious. Asked him to send the offer in writing instead.
