There was that typical brief silence and then right away they started talking about some outdated washing machine warranty. I just hung up and blocked the number straight away.

Like always, the start of the call was super fast so I couldn't figure out where she was ringing from or what it was about. She mentioned something about my Beko washing machine, so I told her I don't own one anymore, and she was like, oh, alright then.

Someone rang me on 14/09/23, asking specifically for me by name. When I questioned who was calling and the reason, they repeated the request for me. I told them that the name they mentioned wasn’t anyone I knew, so they wouldn’t say who they were or why they were calling and then just hung up. I’ve blocked the number now - sounds like a scam to me.

I tried ringing a number that’s rarely active (hasn’t had any use since before November 21 and isn’t shared anymore because the owner died). Scammers and cons have been passing it about, and strange callers use it about every couple of months. Usually I let it ring over six times before picking up, just in case it might be legit. Most times the calls come from suspicious sources and the history ain’t looking good.

So this bloke called me about my washing machine warranty. He started off saying it was nearly expired and I could renew it for just £66. I couldn’t help but laugh. He asked what was so funny. I told him straight up that I knew it was a scam. He said it wasn’t, but I shot back that I’d owned my washing machine for ages and never had any warranty extension before. Then he just hung up on me! Proper funny.

I received a call claiming they were issuing a refund of £202 from Sky due to some overpayments on my phone bill. When I mentioned that I'd ring Sky directly to verify, they abruptly ended the call. It was the typical Indian accent, and they introduced themselves as Edward! How original.

Got a call from 01273004376 about some home cover payments for my white goods supposedly being reduced. They asked for my bank sort code and account number to "fix" the payments. Nope, not happening - I told them I deal with British Gas and wouldn’t share my details over the phone. She said she couldn’t send anything in writing because it’s all handled by phone. So I just ended the call.

I got a call from this bloke who kept telling me I had some kind of home appliance insurance and that my payments were coming out by direct debit. It all seemed a bit dodgy to me - like he was fishing for my bank info. The number he called from wasn’t one I’d ever seen before.

I got a call claiming to be from Domestic Insurance about renewing my appliance coverage. Since i already have a policy with Domestic and General, it was kinda confusing. They tried to tempt me with a discount if i stayed with them but then wanted my bank details over the phone, which i wasn’t comfortable sharing. This led to a bit of a standoff and i ended up hanging up on them. They called back saying i was rude, but i just told them to keep their so-called discount and ended the call again.

It’s infuriating how some individuals exploit the vulnerable; it’s downright disgraceful!

i picked up the phone and the guy butchered my last name so i told him he had the wrong person. he quickly admitted his mistake and ended the call. after reading other reports here, i’m relieved i didn’t get involved with him - it really seems like a dodgy scam.

Got a call from someone claiming to be National Homecare, saying my current Domestic and General policy was ending soon, and they could give me £50 off a year. I wasn’t convinced, so I told them I’d contact D&G myself before making any decisions. They said they’d call back in a few days, but I ended the call there.
