After reading through some of the other comments, this really strikes a chord with me. The job title they mentioned wasn’t very clear, so I spent ages digging through all my emails and stuff to see if I’d ever applied for anything like that, but couldn’t find a thing. Plus, it didn’t line up with the sort of job roles I've been after anyway.

I reckon it’s safer to just ignore the call and not get involved with whoever’s ringing.

So, it turns out they’re actually a recruitment company, but it’s obvious they just make cold calls. They probably grab your CV from places like Reed.co.uk and then pester you about jobs you’ve never shown interest in and definitely wouldn’t want. The person on the phone insisted I’d applied for a certain position, which was nothing to do with my experience or field. When I challenged them to show proof, they claimed GDPR stopped them from doing so, which is just not true. It’s basically unwanted harassment. My recommendation? Just hang up and block the number.
