I got a call from someone saying they were with BT and that my internet was being hacked. When I asked for the number they were calling from to check they were legit, they just ended the call straight away. Seems fishy to me.

For the past three days I've been getting calls from the same number, but no one ever speaks when I answer. It's really frustrating. I’ve reported them to Ofcom since it feels like harassment. Apparently, the number isn't covered by the TPS, so what's the use of the TPS anyway?

Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT Openreach, saying my computer had been hacked and they needed to access my Windows PC. I told them I actually use Linux and have a serious firewall setup. They went quiet, said "oh my god", and then just hung up. Quite the strange conversation!

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT Openreach, saying my gear was being hacked and asking me to log in. I’m not a BT customer, so it felt dodgy straight away. The number looked like it was from Barnstaple, Devon, but the bloke on the phone had an accent and sounded like he was in a call centre. Definitely looks like a scam trying to get access to your devices. Just be careful and if you’re unsure, ring BT or whoever your provider is to check.

Got three calls from someone pretending to be Openreach over the past couple of days - total scam, I reckon.

someone called saying they were ella from bt openreach, saying there was an infection on my internet line. when i asked which company provides my internet, she didn’t have an answer and called me dumb for even asking, then hung up. this is the second time today they’ve called, and the fourth time in just 2 days. so annoying!

Got a call from some bloke claiming our computer had been hacked and told me to access it straight away. I told him I wasn’t happy with that and he went on about how if I was a hacker, he wouldn’t be asking me to do stuff like that. I stuck to my guns and said no, then he just hung up on me. He had an Asian accent and it all seemed to come from a call centre.
