Got a call where the person claimed to be from o2, saying they needed to verify my info. I told them I’m not actually with o2, and then they just ended the call straight away.

I’ve had about four calls all from similar but not quite identical numbers, each one pretending to be Currys with a deal for a cheap phone. The calls all seemed to come from Barnstaple area. On the first one, I told them I’d ring back, but they said no because the number changes every time. Pretty obvious they’re trying to scam you. The caller probably got fed up with me too, since I keep an attack alarm or a whistle by the phone to keep me alert.

Got a ring from a Barnstable area number, didn’t pick up ‘cause I thought it might be one of those sales calls, and they didn’t leave a voicemail either. Then, less than a minute after, another call came in from 1271522018, which is the same Barnstable area. I ignored that one too. Glad I looked this number up on this site - seems like I made the right call. Both have been blocked now.

This number kept ringing my elderly mum, claiming they were from BT trying to stop nuisance calls, and asked her to check her credit card’s expiry date? (Honestly, the only nuisance is from these people.) Mum said she didn’t have her card to hand, and they insisted she go fetch it. Luckily, she was smart enough to hang up. Still, they phoned back about six more times, but she didn’t pick up. With all the tech these days, you’d think BT could block this right from the start. I’ve told her maybe it’s best to ditch the landline, since these calls come in at all hours.
