James Anderson kept ringing me all day with some sort of recorded message about avoiding tax. It never mentioned my name or any personal details. Proper worrying, especially as I've got kids and it's just me. I only do part-time work, so I don’t even earn enough to be paying tax, so there's no way I've done anything wrong. Still, it’s pretty unsettling. I’ve blocked the number now. Calls come from Nottingham.

Unfortunetly I didn’t get the chance to speak with Mr Anderson. He seems pretty active today as he rang me from Nottingham - 01158883092. Since this number is linked to a company, I reckon he might be doing that fake dial tone trick to keep the line open before you call back, probably using some kind of VoIP system to fake the number. Might be quite scary for someone who’s vunerable.

Just like everyone else has said, this is totally a scam. Got a call on Thursday 11/10/18 around 8:50am but the start of the message was cut off. Something about a tax fraud case using my name. Then it said if I don’t act they’ll take it to my local court and issue a warrant. They asked me to call back on 0151 528 6634. They repeated the number a couple times. The message said not to ignore it and to call back straight away. It ended with “This is James Anderson from HMRC.” Absolute rubbish, be warned!

Got a voicemail this morning from 01622 370894, a Maidstone number, saying I was facing a 'serious legal action soon'. The caller claimed to be James Anderson from HMRC but had an Indian accent. When I called back, it quickly became obvious something was dodgy - he didn’t ask for my UTR and was pushy about getting payment straight away. When I asked to speak to a manager, he kept refusing, getting angry and aggressive. Then he hung up briefly and came back on with a different voice, but I could tell it was still him! What a complete nightmare. Reporting it to HMRC now.

I've just received an identical call from a chap named James Aggerson, supposedly from the HMRC, asserting that I'm under investigation for tax evasion.

Just like the others have said, it was a telemarketer trying to sell something I didn’t ask for. Got me wasting my time again!

I received a call from this number earlier today. When I picked up, I got the feeling someone was on the other end but remained silent. I've since decided to block them, and honestly, investing in the ability to halt these pestering calls has been a brilliant decision!

That chap seems to be ringing loads of folks with the identical spiel.
I’d say it's a proper scam, no doubt about it.

I've received the exact same message not once, but twice today! The Caller ID shows 01271 220 624, which seems to be a UK number, yet it's also tagged as 'International.' Quite puzzling, isn't it?

Got a call earlier from someone claiming to be James Anderson from HMRC. They told me my name was connected to some fraud and tax evasion stuff and that if I didn't get back to them, I’d be taken to county court and even arrested. Didn't ring them back, as it felt dodgy. I’m gonna report it to HMRC. Really scary and alarming - please check with HMRC directly if you get anything like this. Seems like a total scam.

Received a call from someone claiming to be with HMRC, stating there was an issue regarding an unpaid invoice. I didn't stick around for any more details and promptly ended the call.

Pretty much just like the one from 10/05/2017.

Received a similar call urging me to contact HMRC. The bloke had an American accent and introduced himself as James Aggerson, though that’s likely an alias.

Best to steer clear of this scam call; just ignore it completely.

My voicemail got a message from someone saying I’m gonna be arrested for not paying £954 in tax and that I need to ring them back straight away. I just didn’t bother answering, it’s clearly a scam!

Got a voicemail from someone called James Anderson saying he was from HMRC. He said I owe money and if I don't ring 12712220624 right away, I’d be sent to the County Court. The number sounds dodgy and there isn’t even a County Court here in Scotland. Definitely a scam, don’t fall for it!

Got a call on my private number today, with a recorded message saying my name was connected to big tax fraud. I ended up hanging up by mistake when answering. The voice on the message sounded like some sort of robotic Asian accent. I’ve reported it to HMRC by phone and also put a report in through Action Fraud online. I’d suggest you report it too if you get it.

Got a robotic call from someone claiming to be James Anderson from HMRC, saying I owed taxes and if I didn’t ring back the number he gave, I’d end up arrested. Proper scare tactic that was.

Never got to the beginning of the call before they asked about Mr James Anderson from HMRC, which was odd since there’s 4 people working at our place! Marked it as risky cause it felt like a con to me.

I received a rather alarming message on my voicemail suggesting that I was under investigation for tax evasion and urging me to ring the number back before facing arrest. They purported to be from HMRC.

My elderly mother, who’s 85, received a rather threatening phone call from this number. The caller was extremely nasty, telling her absurd tales of jail time looming over her. After slamming the phone down in disgust, she attempted to ring them back, only to find she couldn’t receive calls for nearly four hours! It was quite unsettling for her.

Got a call from this number today saying I'd face legal steps over unpaid taxes. Sounds like a scam to me. I'm gonna report it to HMRC just to be safe.

Said it was from HMRC. Sounds like a scam to me. Got a weird robotic voice with an Asian accent. They called me James Anderson too, just like others have mentioned.

I keep getting the same recorded message on my answering machine. Something about HMRC fraud and threats of arrest - you know, the usual scare tactics. Honestly, just disregard it!

I just experienced the same thing a moment ago! Not quite sure where to return the call, though. Any ideas?

01271220624: Got a call from some robotic voice with an Asian accent claiming to be from HMRC saying there's tax fraud they wanna check out. Since I’m retired, I quickly guessed it’s a scam. I always have a rule that if I didn’t ask for the call, I don’t listen to any offers or advice over the phone.

Got a robotic message sayin it was urgent and I had to call back or legal trouble would follow. The weird thing was, it kicked off before they even said their name, so no clue who they were pretending to be.

Got a voicemail from someone saying they're James Anderson, warned me to call back or I'd be arrested over an HMRC issue. They rang my home phone, which HMRC doesn't actually have on record since I only use my mobile and work landline. I’ve flagged this as risky since it could seriously upset older folks or anyone with mental health problems.
