Some bloke said he was from House Utopia (their site is houseutopia[###]) about an EPC check. Then started rambling about new building rules on insulation and how I gotta ditch all the loft stuff you get at B&Q or Wickes. Got a call earlier from someone saying they had info about solar panels fitted to our property, and that they pulled our number from some "UK2 database" of solar firms that have shut down. Thing is, we never had any connection with those companies, plus they called us by the wrong name. They insisted we had to get some kind of inspection and report on our supposed solar setup. Once I told them we’re on the TPS list, they muttered sorry and quickly ended the call.

I’ve been dealing with exactly the same thing as everyone else here for more than two weeks now, getting calls 6 to 8 times daily. It’s obviously some kind of automated calling system from a call centre. When I pick up, no one speaks but you can hear background noises; it’s such a pointless waste of time. A person from a firm named Silver Crest offered a free check-up on my inverter, saying there was no pressure to buy anything. I agreed to a visit. This number rang me three times within the space of an hour this morning. Looks like a daft caller becuase they just get a recorded message from my Call Guardian saying they’re blocked. I never pick up as Call Guardian only gives it one ring before dropping the call. I've reported them to the ICO today and I really advise anyone annoyed by this number to do the same and get them penalised.

Got a call from one of my clients today, they said they’d been rung by this same number. The person on the other end was trying to offer a fault check on their PV inverter. Thankfully my client, who’s quite elderly, spotted something wasn’t right once they made an appointment and gave me a ring. I told them it’s definitely a scam. Seriously, don’t trust calls like this. If you think something’s wrong with your system, always contact the company who installed it or if they’re no longer operating, find a local installer from the Yougen[###] site. Stay safe!
