I’ve had a bunch of calls this morning, six in total, from someone saying they’re from BT and warning my internet will be cut off. The weird thing is, they barely speak English at all. Proper dodgy if you ask me!

Got a call from a guy calling himself "Steve Rogers", said he was from BT and wanted to disconnect my BT internet. Thing is, I’m not even a BT customer, so it was obvious it was a con. I joked if he wanted to upload some kind of special fix to my PC, which he didn’t seem to get at all. He kept saying all he was after was cutting off my BT internet today. So, I just told him to carry on and then ended the call.

No clue who they were, but I've got a system down pat for these calls now. Basically, I answer and stay quiet - if there’s no sound after about 5 seconds, I just hang up. Anyone with a real reason to call will break the silence, but I guess there’s always a delay because of their phone setup. These rubbish calls are just a massive waste of time and need to be stopped. I used to hum along with them until they’d lose patience and start cursing, but honestly that kind of 'fun' gets old pretty quickly!

It's so bloody irritating, I got a call and I could hear a call centre buzzing away in the background. This lady with an Asian accent just said "hello" and then the line went dead the moment I answered! There were a couple more calls too, but no one said a word, just silence.

I recently encountered a dubious phone call from a chap with an Indian accent purporting to be from BT's technical support team. He attempted to persuade me that my computer was in dire straits and urged me to check my Windows event log for issues. Since I was using an old, not-so-reliable PC that I fire up for these sorts of calls, I decided to humour the scammers for a bit. When I mentioned to his 'supervisor' that I intended to post a recording of our chat on YouTube, he couldn’t disconnect fast enough. Interestingly, although the caller ID displayed a UK number, it also showed signs of being international. It's a clever trick these scammers use to alter the number that appears on your device.

The number first popped up on my phone as 'International Call.' When I answered, there was silence followed by an automated message saying 'goodbye.' I've since blocked that number.

At first, there was no reply, then all I heard was “goodbye.” The number looked international, but funny enough, it had a Basildon area code. Since I’m from Basildon too, I found it a bit strange and hesitated before answering - I’ve noticed that doing this sometimes makes robocalls hang up. Either way, I wouldn’t have shared any details with them.

So this number called me back first thing this morning, around 8am again. I reckon it's connected to those two quiet calls I got yesterday from 01237598648 and 01253711592. All of them pop up as international numbers. Honestly, just stop bothering people and do something better with your time!

I got a call from 01268723796 claiming my BT internet would be cut off today. Honestly, good luck with that because my internet’s through another provider and managed from a completely different place. That 01268 code’s for Basildon, but I highly doubt that’s their real location. Don’t fall for these muppets trying to scare you!

On Saturday morning, I got three calls in about 30 minutes from these numbers - 01268723796 (which seemed international), 01287598547 and 01424994654. They were all silent, thank goodness I didn't answer. Reading the reviews here, sounds like they might be scammers trying their luck. Honestly, they deserve whatever comes back to them!

Just got a call from this number, they left a voicemail claiming my internet would be cut off soon. Totally a SCAM. Make sure you don’t ring them back. I called my internet company from my phone, gave them the number, and they said it’s definitely a scam. They were glad I didn’t share any info with whoever called me. I told them I never pick up if there’s no message left. Normally, I look up the number and block or report it straight away.

Got a really annoying call, seems like it could be one of those scams. They mentioned something about some IP address issue. Definitely don’t hit 1 if they ask you to talk to a tech person.

Got a call claiming to be my internet company saying they were going to cut off my service so they could change the router's IP address because it was supposedly hacked. They told me to press #1 if I wanted to talk to their "technician". Nope, not falling for that!
