Someone rang claiming to be from Virgin Media, sounded pretty legit at first. They even took remote control of our modem saying they were sorting out an issue, asked for some info and kept me on the phone and computer for nearly an hour and a half. Then they wanted me to log into my bank account to process a refund, which instantly made me suspicious, so I cut the call. I then contacted Virgin Media myself and they confirmed it wasn’t them, advised me to remove anything installed during the call. After that, the scammer called back and got quite angry when I called them out as a fraud, even suggested my Virgin Media call was fake. Fingers crossed all’s ok, but I’m gonna wait a bit before checking my bank balances properly.
