7 yearsThey rang me claiming to be from Virgin Media and really had me fooled for a while. They managed to take control of my modem, insisting they were resolving some sort of issue. We chatted for about 90 minutes, during which they gathered a fair bit of my information. Just as they asked me to log into my banking app to process a so-called refund, I started to feel uneasy and decided it was best to hang up. I quickly reached out to Virgin Media, who reassured me it wasn’t them and advised me on what to do next, including getting rid of any dodgy software from our conversation. Not long after, the same number called me again, sounding quite irate when I accused them of being nothing more than a scam artist. They even tried to convince me that my call to Virgin was fabricated.
