A few weeks back, I got a slightly different take on this scam. The call mentioned a £600 sum and told me to press 1. Instead of doing that, I called my credit card provider from a different phone, and they confirmed all was fine. What caught my attention was them claiming to be from MBNA - which I actually do have an account with, though I only use it rarely, maybe once every couple of months. Funny enough, I’d just used it a few hours before the call came in.
