It's a total scam because I don’t even have a BT line anymore, switched over to cable through a different supplier ages ago. I just hung up and tried blocking the number, but they keep changing the caller ID so blocking doesn’t work. I really wish there was someone, like the police or an authority, who could actually catch these scumbags and stop them. These pests ruin so much time and never seem to get caught.7 yearsI’m not entirely convinced that flagging this number will make much of a difference, as the con artist behind it seems to constantly switch the displayed number for each new call. So when you glance at your landline’s caller ID, it shows a number that you haven’t yet added to your blocked list. Yet another call of this ilk came through today-when I picked up, there was nothing but silence for a good five seconds, before a robotic female voice chimed in, claiming to be from BT (British Telecom) and announcing that my broadband service had been compromised. What a load of nonsense! I haven't had any sort of BT line or ADSL broadband for over four years. Clearly, they’re trying to lure me into some sort of fraudulent connection, hoping I’ll unwittingly grant them access to my home computer using my IP address. No chance of that happening on my watch!
