Some bloke called Jason Davies rang, said he wanted to chat about my Aviva life insurance. I said I couldn’t recall the details, so he told me to find them and he’d call back the next day. Thing is, I don’t even have an Aviva life insurance policy, so I’m curious what he’ll say when he rings again. Smells fishy to me, probably trying to catch people out who aren’t paying attention.

A woman answered and said it was about checking my life insurance! They weren’t trying to sell me anything, or so they claimed. I said my policy finished at 60, and she said I needed one that lasts longer, asking “who’d pay for your funeral then?” I told her I’d be retired by then, no mortgage, and a decent pension. Still, she insisted I needed more life insurance! Then the call just ended. Bye.

Just like others have said, they said they were from Aviva about some policy but kept asking stuff they should already have info on. They rang me twice and said they'd ring back tomorrow. Definitely feels like a phishing scam to me.

A woman with a very official voice called me sayin that because of some new rules I could get a discount on my AVIVA life insurance. She even had my correct address for the payments, but here's the thing - I don't even have AVIVA life insurance! When I asked her how much I was payin each month, she just ended the call on me.

They ring me at least twice or three times daily, leaving empty voicemails. When I do pick up, they just hang up. One time I managed to speak to a guy who was Asian, but he used a fake English name that clearly wasn’t his. He was quite rude when I refused to give out my date of birth or confirm my name, especially since they got my name wrong. I’ve been married a decade now, yet they kept trying to use my old surname. These lot seem dodgy and I honestly think something has to be done to stop them. Proper scammers.

The individual who called had a conversation with my elderly mother regarding a life insurance policy she was completely unaware of. They inquired whether she would prefer the benefits to be directed to her or to other relatives. When my mother sought clarification, they abruptly terminated the call. This could very well be an attempt to extract banking information from those who are susceptible. I recommend simply disregarding such calls!

Even when I told them I pay £9.99 a month, they said they’d beat that deal just to keep me talking and hopefully sign me up. I received a rather peculiar phone call today. The person on the other end introduced himself as being from Gold Standard Reviews, based in Carmarthen. He was apparently keen to evaluate a life insurance policy of mine. However, what he didn’t realise was that I had previously fed some fabricated details regarding my identity and the insurance plan to a different cold caller not too long ago. He provided a contact number - 03300108380 - which I promptly looked up once the conversation concluded. It turns out to be linked to an address at 13 Queen Street, Carmarthen. He assured me that he wasn’t trying to sell me anything outright, merely aiming to review my policy. Yet, I couldn’t help but feel that he’d somehow attempt to pitch me a product after his so-called review. During the chat, he rambled on about the regulations preventing life insurance firms from reaching out to their clients directly, implying that they rely on agents like himself. The moment I began to explain the Telephone Preference Service, he abruptly cut the call short.
