I got a call on my phone but the person hung up straight away when I picked up. Tried calling back from another number but no luck, it just said the guy wasn’t available.

Got a call from some robot using a made up name, saying they were from some company, telling me I’d been in an accident. Then they put me through to this Indian bloke, who was proper sneaky, trying to hype me up about loads of cash I could claim from an old accident. Of course, the trick was that I had to pay a bit of money over the phone first to kick things off! Total scam as far as I’m concerned.

So, like everyone else said, I rang the number back and the bloke said he was from BT, sounded like an Indian call centre or something. Didn’t ask me any proper security questions either, just kept saying they’re the main provider. He talked really quickly and when I got a bit iffy, he warned me it’d be my fault if my details got messed with. He even put me on hold twice, which just made me more wary, so I ended the call. Then he rang me again, and I told him I’d reported him to Ofcom and the police. I just cut him off after that.

After my partner told me, I phoned them back and spoke to a man with an Indian accent. I asked who he was and where he was calling from - even though I was the one contacting them! He said "we're BT and based north of London," but I could hear several other voices chatting loudly in the background, so I knew that wasn’t true. I told him, "this is an Indian scam and you’re just wasting my time," then ended the call.

Got a call from this number earlier today, 19/6/2019, around 11:08am. Like some others have mentioned, I heard a recorded bloke saying my internet was under constant cyber threats and that it would be disconnected unless I contacted a different number (something like 12460005718, though it wasn’t very clear) or pressed 1. Smells like one of those dodgy scams to me, so I didn’t bother replying. Glad I didn’t fall for it.
