Got a call earlier today, but they just clicked off right after I picked up. Surely there’s some Data Protection law here in the UK stopping folks from having access to our private numbers and cold calling us like this??? How do they even get hold of our digits in the first place??? Rather than the government squandering our taxes on Brexit stuff, they should invest some of it into tracking down these people and holding them accountable.

Got a call today saying I had an unpaid claim. They wouldn't take my info off their list and said it’s against the law not to reply. When I said I’d report them to the ICO, they claimed the ICO actually encourages them to call people and even supports them financially! Complete bunch of con artists, they really need to be stopped.

They ask for £400 upfront - total rubbish, trying to convince you that you’re due thousands from some PPI mess. Just by mentioning a couple of well known banks, they try and scam you. They’ll happily take your £400, but don’t count on seeing a penny back. These con artists fold every few months then pop up again with a new name, pushing the exact same dodgy scheme.

Two reviews from 16/09/13 are definitely fake - U-legal are dodgy PPI scammers who rush you into paying straight away. A quick Google search recently shows plenty of warnings. The firm’s currently being looked into by the authorities.

Greetings! I received a rather dubious call the other day, claiming that I was due a cheque for a hefty £4,800 as a PPI refund. The person on the line, a young lady no less, inquired about a suitable time for me to be at home to sign for this supposed cheque. I mentioned that I would be available on Monday morning at 10 o'clock. I'm baffled as to why she would pull such a cruel stunt on anyone. It’s disappointing and disheartening for my wife and kids, who were hoping for some good news. So, I feel it's only fair to alert others about this number. I strongly advise you not to engage with them. It's quite dismal how low some people will sink. The number in question is 01267228401. Stay vigilant, folks!

I made it quite clear that I wasn’t keen on whatever they were selling, and mentioned that I’d be notifying the police. Then, out of nowhere, they turned around and threatened me by saying they know my address. It’s downright chilling to realise I can answer the phone, and they have all my personal details - my name, my number, and where I reside, yet I haven’t a clue who they are. Got a call earlier from a bloke asking me to verify my name. I asked who he was, and he just said, “Don’t you know who I am?” and kept pushing to confirm my details. It was something about PPI compensation. When I told him I wasn’t bothered, he said I should be and that it was his job to convince me. I told him it was up to me, and he snapped back saying with my attitude I should be somewhere else for work, then just slammed the phone down. Haven’t come across someone that cheeky in ages.

Got a call from this number yesterday, the person said they got my info from my bank, like my name, address, and insurance details, and told me I was due PPI compensation. I questioned them and said my bank wouldn't hand out personal details because of data protection laws. When I asked for proof, they couldn’t provide any. I received a rather peculiar call from someone claiming to be with "Unilever," stating he was reaching out regarding some funds owed to me. According to him, they had me all lined up in their records, indicating there were outstanding payments. He asked whether I had taken out any loans or credit cards and if I still resided at my current address. I pointed out that if they truly had all this information, it would be safe to assume they knew the answer to those questions already. The more I sidestepped his probing, the more irate he became, eventually saying, "Well, if you'd prefer to remain ignorant, ma'am..." At that point, I decided it was best to hang up.

Whenever I get random calls like this, I usually pick up and feed them a load of rubbish whenever they start asking questions. None of the details I give are true at all! The other day I was on a train for about 40 minutes and ended up chatting with them the whole time... only slightly less entertaining than my book, honestly!

Was dozing off with my 4 year old beside me when the phone went off. The bloke on the other end clearly didn’t have kids, he seemed totally confused why my little lad kept asking if he was his dad! Didn’t mean for my son to pick up, but honestly, trying not to get disturbed when you’re a knackered teacher on half term is nearly impossible!

They rang me and got my name right, then just started mumbling something before suddenly hanging up! What a pointless call!

I got a call from someone saying they were with You Legal. When I asked what they actually did, they just kept saying it was You Legal without explaining anything. I asked a couple more times but just got the same vague answer. Weirdly enough, they ended the call on me.

What I do is listen to their usual spiel, then I just say "Hello?" like I’m not hearing a thing so they tend to keep talking. After that, I ask again, "Hello? Are you there?" and just leave it like that. It’s hilarious letting them stay there waiting! I've tried it quite a few times and it never gets old!
