Got a call from someone claiming to be Dave from BT, saying since I’m good at paying on time, I qualify for three months of free line rental plus 35% off calls. He was fairly polite but sounded like he wasn’t local. He also mentioned they’d send some info by post in a few days. Thing is, I’m not even with BT, and my calls are already free. He wanted to confirm our postcode and bank name. Then it hit me - if he’d found us in a phone book, he’d already have our address anyway. No idea what the angle is here, but I’m sure there’s a dodgy bit hiding somewhere.
