There was a lot of background noise and a weird lag when I answered, so I'm pretty sure it was a call centre. I've gone ahead and blocked the caller now.

This is the second occasion I've received a call from this number, and once again, there was nobody on the other end.

I received a call on the 3rd of November, 2017, around 11:05 in the morning, where the caller mentioned there were 'unauthorised individuals' gaining access to my internet. I informed her that I was a BT customer, to which she replied, "I’m aware of that. However, did you realise that some people are breaching your personal network?" At that point, I decided to end the conversation!

I had a call at 09:45 on the 10th of March, 2017, which was abruptly disconnected. Shortly after, another call came through from 01726-169988. An Indian-sounding voice claimed to be representing the police, asking me for my address and whereabouts. I ended the conversation without providing any information. Just another nuisance call, hopefully a one-off that won’t trouble me in the future!

I had similar calls like what others mentioned, some bloke claiming he’s from BT Technical team saying someone was messing with my internet. I just told him it’s total nonsense and hung up straight away. This was the second time this week! Surely BT could do something and stop these calls after you report them, right?

The 01266 area code is classified by Ofcom as a "protected" number. Clearly, it’s under protection from those pesky scam artists, as that seems to be their primary playground. It’s rather disheartening, really! One can’t help but wonder about the effectiveness of our governmental measures in safeguarding us from such vile nuisances!

Twice today I got calls from that number but didn't pick up since I get loads of calls every day. I even asked BT to block it at the exchange, but they said the exchange’s too outdated to do that.

Some bloke with an Asian accent called, claiming to be from BT. When I told him I was on the TPS list and not actually with BT, he started threatening to come round and mess me about. I've reported it to the police now.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT security. The bloke sounded like he had a heavy Asian accent but had an English name. He said my internet was under attack and being hacked. When I asked him for my BT account number to prove it was legit, he told me he couldn't share it. These scammers are definitely getting sneakier these days.

I picked up a call from this number and after a bit of silence, all I got was a recorded "goodbye". Honestly, it didn’t shock me to find out it’s just another scam, with people pretending to be someone else. What bugs me the most is how they try to pass off as British with a heavy South Asian accent - it just sounds so fake and silly.

This morning, I got a call from someone claiming that people were using my internet from outside my home. He said he was from BT and asked me to turn on my computer so he could sort it out. I told him no a few times and then ended the call. Later, I phoned BT myself and they recognised this number as a scam.

Got a call from this number on 6th March 2017 at about 3.21pm. I use a BT landline that has call guardian, so usually it scares off cold callers by asking them to say who they are or leave a message. When I checked my call log later, I searched the number and found loads of warnings. So, I’ve went ahead and blocked it. If I were you, I’d do the same - real companies don’t ask for personal info or try to get into your computer. Watch out!

About half an hour ago, I got a call from this number too. The person on the line said my laptop or computer was hacked and insisted I should open it so they could get rid of the hacker. But something felt off - her voice didn’t quite sound like a woman’s, more like a bloke trying to sound like a lady. I suspected it was some kind of scam, so I just ended the call straight away.

I got a call from a woman using this number claiming she worked for BT. She said my wifi was being hacked by my neighbours. Then she asked if I had a laptop or a computer. When I said I didn't, she just ended the call straight away. Quite strange really.

I got a call at about 9:48 on 4th March 2017 from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from BT. He said his name was Steve Martin and mentioned some suspicious IP addresses connected to my router. He wanted me to let him access my computer and router. I asked him for his BT identification and a number so I could ring back, but he hung up instead. Asked BT about it afterwards, and they said they know about these scams where callers get into your computer, change passwords, then try to extort money by charging your accounts.

Got a call early on a Saturday morning, about 8.30am, from someone saying they were with BT. I had already looked up the number and told her straight up that she sounded like a scammer. She seriously lost it and then, unbelievably, started shouting some awful stuff about having a massive willy and doing disgusting things to me! Totally shocked by that and I’ve definitely blocked the number now!

About 20 minutes back, I got a call from this number too. The person was telling me to turn on my laptop or computer since they claimed it was hacked and said they'd fix it. The way the caller spoke seemed off, like it wasn’t a woman but a bloke trying to sound like one. I caught on to the scam straight away and ended the call.

Some bloke with an Indian accent called me, said he was Alan Robson from BT, telling me there was an issue with my router. I just spoke rubbish back at him and hung up quick. Honestly, BT really ought to shut down these scammy calls.

Got a call from someone saying they're from BT tech support, said there was an issue with my internet router. They tried to convince me to let them access my computer, but it’s just a scam to steal your passwords and drain your bank. They end up using your PayPal and Ebay accounts. BT would never ring you out of the blue, and if they did, they’d know your actual name. Just watch out for these dodgy calls!
