Just like loads of calls I get from numbers like these, usually some asian bloke or lass, always with posh English names like john, liz, or mark. Most of the time I can’t make out what they’re saying, and they’re always after something. Honestly, better to just ignore ‘em.

I need this information as it seems to be a scam. The phone companies such as O2, BT, Vodafone, or any others associated with this number should be aware of it. This is considered a scam, which goes against the UK money laundering regulations. The phone company responsible and even HMRC (Revenue and Customs) who receive VAT payments from this company are potentially implicated in this fraudulent activity. To put an end to this, action should be taken against both the phone company and HMRC, as they seem to be knowingly involved in this fraud.

I get a couple of calls every week, but when I pick up it's always dead silent. If someone does actually speak, it's usually an Indian guy or lady. They always claim to be from NETFLIX or NETPLUS, asking about landline fees or something similar. I've asked them loads of times to take my mobile off their list but no luck. Some bloke rang me up saying there was a problem with my Microsoft computer, saying the certificate had expired and it might crash badly. He kept saying Microsoft loads of times at the start. When I fibbed and said I actually had an Apple computer, he suddenly said I must have misheard and that he was talking about Macintosh all along! Honestly, watch out, this is a total scam. If your computer's acting up, just take it to a proper shop to get it looked at!

This guy was really pushy, saying he was from the telephone preference service and asking me to verify my home number - odd, since he was calling me on that very number! Then he wanted me to confirm my address and that I pay my phone bill by direct debit. He got quite annoyed when I asked why he needed all that info and questioned why he was calling me in the first place. I told him nicely not to ring me again. BE WARNED, THIS GUY WAS REALLY PUSHY AND UPSET!!!

This number has called us a bunch of times today, but luckily we use a BT call blocker. I had a read through all the comments on here first. Just for laughs, after about six rings, I unblocked it and the woman got through, went on about the TPS service and all that nonsense. I told her we’ve got a call blocker in place, but she kept pushing. I told her to buzz off. Anyway, I’ve blocked the number again now. Curious to see if they’ll try ringing from a different number like others have mentioned.

Got a call from a dodgy sounding phone company, they first wanted to speak to the last owner and then the current person living here. They claimed they were "handling nuisance calls". Got a call from a woman with a strong foreign accent claiming to be from 'TPS'. She was pretty pushy trying to get my credit card details. I chose not to share anything and just ended the call straight away. Seems from what others say, that's definitely the right thing to do.

This number has been ringing me a few times over the past couple of days, claiming to be from that Telephone Preference Management Service. They really unsettled my missus by asking for our bank info, which we’d never give out over the phone - she ended the call straight away. They phoned again this morning, so I told them I suspected it was a scam and I’d be reporting them to the police. They cut off instantly. Proper frustrating as our number is ex-directory and we’re signed up with the official TPS!

Some bloke called saying he was from the Telephone Preference Service, needing to check my info so I could keep using their call blocking service. He kept pushing for my debit card info but got suspicious when the card dates I invented didn’t match up month to month - lesson learned! He also asked for my bank sort code and account number, calling it a direct debit verification number or something. I told him TPS is meant to be free, so there’s no way I’m giving out bank details. After I said I didn’t want the service, he finally gave up and hung up.

Got a call from an Asian woman claiming to be from Telephone Preference Service, saying we were signed up and asking for our Visa Debit expiry date to stop spam calls. When I asked for her phone number, she only gave me 0203 then passed me to ‘Henry Wilson’ - another Asian bloke who said he was a senior manager. I kept pushing for his number but he just told me I needed a doctor ‘cause I was unwell. Then he just hung up on me!!!

A young Asian lady named 'Shirley' rang me up claiming she could help with pesky calls. Which is daft itself, but what gets me is we've had about six or so calls over a few weeks all from the same Asian scam group. Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent claiming to be from Metplus Telecoms. She said she could reduce my calls and line rental charges. When I picked up, there was like 15 seconds of silence before she started speaking. She spoke really fast and seemed quite pushy trying to sell something. Got two calls from this number. When I answer, it shows up as INTERNATIONAL on my phone. No one talks; I just say hello, then I end the call. Dialling 1471 tells me the same number and then says “Please hang up.” Weird.

Got a call from an Asian woman claiming to be from the TPS. She asked me to verify my address and then, shockingly, wanted the expiry date on my debit card. Knowing TPS doesn’t ask for card info since it’s a free service, I knew it was dodgy. I had a bit of a laugh messing with her before ending the call. Got a call from these pushy blokes saying they were from TPS wanting to "upgrade" my details. They had loads of info on me - my name, address, my bank, even the expiry on my card and that number they called the direct debit instruction (which was actually my sort code). Then they tried to get me to confirm the number beside it, which was my account number - no chance I’d give that out. Received a call from an individual claiming to be from Windows, stating that our computers were infested with a virus. I quickly judged that he was the only virus. I politely instructed him to leave and find a legitimate occupation.

What do these imbeciles inform their children when asked "Daddy, what do you do for work?"

The best way to handle it is to keep them waiting, telling them you need to find your card or something. Then feed them fake card details with made-up expiry dates and all. On Wednesday 25th October, this number rang me 11 times within just 4 hours. When I picked up the first call, there was nothing but silence, so I ignored any more after that. I’ve ended up blocking this number and quite a few others too. No clue who they are.

I understand your struggle in comprehending the extremely strong Asian accent of the person I just spoke to as well. How did they even know that I am a customer of BT and that I pay through direct debit? I suspect I may have unintentionally revealed my expired Visa card, which was valid until July 2017. They inquired about the expiration date of my current card, but at that point, I promptly ended the call. Now they are continuously attempting to contact me, which is quite unsettling.

Yesterday, I received a call from someone who claimed to be from the telephone preference service. They requested me to provide the expiry date of my payment card as a confirmation. I declined to share any information with them. Subsequently, this number has contacted me three more times.

I have received multiple calls from this particular number today. Reluctantly, I decided to answer the call. The person on the other end requested my name and address, and then asked for verification of my banking information. I refused to provide him with any details. He claimed to be representing the TPS service, which deals with preventing unwanted calls, but I considered him to be one of those nuisance callers himself. He mentioned his intention to call again tomorrow. Needless to say, I will not be answering his calls.

I’ve had this number 01264 568529 ring me over and over - about 8 times just today alone - and not once did they bother to leave a message.
