This number has popped up once more, didn't pick up - caller claimed to be from Andover again (today - 4/03/2026).

Received a call on my landline, number 01264 319902, from someone claiming to be Microsoft. They tried to trick me into giving money, asking if I owned a computer. I told them I don’t have one, but they insisted my laptop was sending them some kind of code. I asked how they even got my number since I just moved in today, then told them to shove off. Honestly, just hang up if this happens to you. You could hear a bunch of voices in the background - definite big scam ring going on.

A person rang me claiming they were from Microsoft and started asking if I had a computer, obviously a scam to get money. I told them I didn’t even own one, then they went on about my laptop sending them some kind of code. I asked how they got my number since I only just moved in today, and I just told them off and hung up. There were loads of voices in the background, definitely a big scam operation. My advice? Just hang up as soon as they start, no point wasting time with these lot.

Definitely a scam call. An Indian lady was being really aggressive and quite impolite, claiming she was from Microsoft and that my computer was hacked. I just let her keep going for a bit, then said I don’t even own a computer. She quickly ended the call. I often like to ask these scammers if their mums would be proud of them for stealing from people. Guess there’s always someone new trying their luck, unfortunately.

My phone rang from 01264319902 and the person said they were with BT, telling me there was some dodgy activity linked to our IP address. They just hung up after that. If it was really illegal stuff going on, wouldnt BT have already blocked us or something? Feels like a total scam to me.

I received a rather intrusive call from a foreign man at 7:40 this morning, asserting he needed to speak with the rightful owner of my Microsoft account. I expressed my annoyance about the early hour and pointed out that he seemed suspicious, but he insisted he was not a fraudster! He then launched into a lengthy discourse about computer hacking and other tech jargon that honestly went straight over my head! He claimed it was "of utmost urgency" for me to address a supposed imminent threat to my legal documents. Completely baffled, I told him that I couldn’t grasp a word of what he was saying, suggesting he send me the information by post so my IT support team could take a look. That seemed to be the last straw for him, as he abruptly hung up. It was quite an unsettling experience, and he had a rather abrasive manner throughout the conversation.

Got a call from them again this morning, 16th Nov 22. I just let it ring out. If you do end up picking up, pretend you’re clueless - tell them you’ve no idea what broadband even means and that you don’t own a computer or fancy getting one!

I got a call from someone saying they were Microsoft and that my mum’s computer was hacked. The weird thing is she hasn’t got a computer at all! They knew her name too, which makes me think they probably hacked into a real company where she has an account and grabbed her info from there.

A woman rang me from 01264 319902 claiming to be BT Technical Support. She asked if I could switch on my computer because apparently there’d been some sort of misuse detected. Judging by what others have said about this number, I reckon it’s just another scam. I told her if there’s a real issue, I’d rather contact our broadband or phone provider directly. Definitely blocking that number now!

Somebody rang saying they were from BT’s tech support, wanting to sort out my internet issues. They told me to check the event viewer which showed loads of errors. Then they tried to get me to use TeamViewer so they could control my PC. I ended the call there - no way was I giving them access. Total scam.

On the 16th of November 2022, at precisely 11:35 AM, I received a pair of back-to-back calls, one from Andover and the other from Tunbridge Wells. It had been ages since I received any unsolicited calls-I'd almost convinced myself they'd ceased altogether! The initial call cut off as soon as I picked up, while the second one just chimed twice before going silent. Quite peculiar, isn’t it?

A chap with an accent from overseas rang me up, claiming to be from Microsoft and insisting there was a problem with my account. Curious, I requested his UIN, and he provided MSUKV11518. I just had a call from an Asian woman insisting that my internet connection was somehow compromised. The line was crackly, and it sounded like she was in a bustling place. I didn't hesitate to tell her she was a con artist and ought to feel embarrassed about her deceitful tactics before I ended the call.

The moment my answering machine began its greeting, the caller abruptly disconnected. I've a firm policy against answering calls from numbers I don't recognise. My message on the answering machine clearly requests, “Please do leave a message instead of hanging up,” which leads me to believe that those who choose not to are usually up to no good. Perusing the remarks on this site, it seems quite apparent that these calls originate from a range of compromised services like BT, Virgin, or other ISPs, and notably, the individuals on the other end of the line often have Asian origins yet use names that sound English, such as “Rosie”. Several users have mentioned that these callers have claimed their computers are under attack, threatening to block access unless they comply. However, after dismissing these callers, my machine has remained perfectly intact-no issues whatsoever. Unfortunately, I can’t figure out a way to block this number on my BT landline, so I’ll stick to my usual strategy of letting the answering machine filter out these tedious interruptions.

Called at 14:02 on the 15th of November. Did a quick Google search during the ring which pointed to Andover. Honestly, what reason would I have to pick up for a number linked to a place where I don't know a soul? The voicemail kicked in and they promptly ended the call-definitely a scam!

Just to add a little extra to my previous rant, while I was taking care of my folks for a few weeks, they were inundated with endless cold calls originating from Andover numbers. Two of these calls were from firms hawking a “block all cold calls” service for a staggering £75 a year. My dad ended up signing on with one of them, while my mum fell for the other. Then I came into the picture and answered one of those calls, where the caller boldly claimed that my parents owed them two years' worth of payments for their so-called “service.” I explained that my parents had been hit with upwards of ten cold calls a day, rendering their “service” utterly ludicrous. I made it very clear that they wouldn’t be seeing a penny from my parents and suggested they kindly do one or I'd take steps to report them and possibly pursue legal action for the £150 they'd already scammed from my parents. Fortunately, I never heard back from them. It’s a mystery whether these Andover numbers genuinely link back to businesses in Andover, or if these unscrupulous scammers buy up the numbers to falsely enhance their legitimacy in the UK. The individuals I spoke with on the phone had British accents, but this particular Andover line (Virgin, BT, Microsoft, etc.) seems to be run out of Asia, or at least employs workers predominantly from that region to perpetrate this ruse. If anyone is wary, just remember that Microsoft couldn’t care less about whether your Windows PC is functioning, nor would they ever ring you up to warn of an impending “block.” It’s all complete tosh - right along with Virgin, BT, and all the rest of those names they claim to be affiliated with.

Got a call last week from someone saying they were Virgin Media, voice sounded Indian and the background was really noisy like a call centre. I just hung up without saying anything. Then today they rang back but it was dead silent, so I answered and they just cut off straight away. I reckon their system flags the number as valid when you pick up, so I’m bracing myself for them to try again soon!

I received a rather dubious call from a gentleman of Asian descent purporting to be from Microsoft. He mentioned there was a dire message from my computer regarding some sort of problem. When I inquired how he had acquired my number, he audaciously replied that the company possessed it! I pressed him further on this point, and after some convoluted exchanges, he had the gall to tell me I ought to apologise to him! It’s absolutely outrageous! These con artists need to be tracked down and brought to justice.

I received a rather suspicious call from an Asian woman claiming to be 'Nancy' who informed me that multiple IP addresses had been attempting to breach my BT account. If I'm recalling that correctly! Naturally, I called her bluff and promptly disconnected the call. Strangely enough, I've faced some issues with my BT broadband recently, but that's more to do with connectivity. Even if her claims had been genuine, I wouldn’t have entertained any inquiries. Should you encounter a problem, always refer to the contact number on your bill and pursue that route. The golden rule is to never divulge information to unidentified callers!

I recently received a call from this number, and I must say, the line was dreadful. The chap on the other end had a foreign accent and was rather hard to understand as he mumbled his introduction. I politely told him that we don't make purchases over the phone, to which he insisted he wasn't trying to sell anything. However, I found his manner quite forceful and somewhat unsettling. When I pointed out that my number is ex-directory and shouldn’t be contacted, he retorted rather rudely, suggesting I ought to listen more carefully as he called me a "stupid woman." I promptly hung up. It’s quite alarming to think how distressing such encounters could be for someone more vulnerable.

On 11 November 2022 at about 9:50am, a woman with an Asian accent called me. I couldn’t really catch the name of the firm she claimed to be from. She told me someone was misusing my internet and they needed to put a stop to it immediately. I told her straight up I thought it sounded like a scam. She got a bit pushy after that. I then asked if she could give me a contact number so I could check it out before calling back. Right after that, the call just cut off. I received a rather alarming telephone call from a chap at the call centre-lots of background din and a rather crackling connection. He claimed to represent BT and expressed concerns regarding some dubious activities linked to my IP address. This gentleman inquired about the number of individuals residing at my address, presumably to pinpoint the precise IP associated with my household. I thought better of providing any details and went silent; he promptly ended the call, though I noticed the line lingered a bit longer than usual. I shall be filing a report with BT regarding this encounter.

Absolutely a dodgy operation! I received a pair of calls back-to-back, one from a chap called Ry and then this number.
