07/10/17 just want to say well done to the person who posted on 18/09/17! this number called my home phone on 15/09/17. i picked up and a bloke claimed to be from british telecom. i didn’t buy it and quickly ended the call. (a year back, i got a similar weird call from another number asking for remote access. luckily my bank spotted something dodgy and i didn’t get scammed.)

I've discovered that the con artists operate out of Kolkata, formerly known as Calcutta. This information came to light because I intentionally allowed them to take control and traced their IP address. For anyone who needs this intel: - **IP Address:** 59.162.178.139 - **DNS Name:** 59.162.178-139.cal.static.vsnl.net.in - **ISP:** TATA Communications - **Timestamp:** 16:30 IST on 18/09/2017 These tricksters usually ask their targets to access fastsupport.com or gotoassist.com, allowing them remote control. They'll then urge the unwitting victim to log into their banking account while they capture the username and password info. Before you know it, they’ll clean out your account while obscuring your screen. Stay vigilant!

I found out these fraudsters are based in Kolkata. I actually let them connect so I could track their IP. Here’s what I got for anyone interested:

Time: 16:30 IST, 18/09/2017
They usually ask you to use fastsupport.com or gotoassist.com so they can take control remotely. Then, while you log into your bank, they watch as you enter your login info. After that, they disable your screen and drain your funds. Be wary!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be with BT, saying there was a problem with my internet speed. Seemed fishy straight away. He kept asking stuff about my router and when I told him I'm not actually a BT broadband customer, he just hung up. These scam calls are really frustrating, why aren't the authorities cracking down on these muppets?

Had a call from someone claiming to be BT, warning me about my router, but honestly, they were trying to trick me into changing settings. Funny thing is, BT can access your router anytime they want without needing you to do anything. Be careful and don't fall for this scam!

The phone buzzed but no one spoke. There was silence for a bit after I answered, then the call just dropped.
