Got a ring from this number yesterday and it’s totally dodgy. Then earlier today, someone called me from a private number and tried the same thing. I told them they weren’t from BT and that the police are looking into it. After that, they just dropped the call. Fingers crossed I don’t get hassled by them again.

Today, the 16th of May, I received a call from a chap with a noticeable foreign accent, possibly Indian or from the Far East. He claimed to represent BT and suggested there was an issue with our internet connection. I wasn’t having any of it and asked him to kindly take his leave.

I got a call from this number earlier, but luckily I've got BT Call Guardian set up. It makes anyone not saved in my contacts say who they are first, but as you'd expect, this caller just stayed silent. I've gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Definitely a scam, no doubt about it. Once you pick up, it shows your number is active and probably ends up on lists sold to loads more scammers. We block them every time, but they just call back from different numbers. For older folks or anyone thinking this isn’t real, my tip - just put the phone down and double-check with someone you trust. Never engage or share any personal details.

Got a call from some guy saying he was with BT tech support, apologising that our internet would be cut off later today. I told him that sounded like a scam and asked for his number, but the call just dropped. I checked 1471 and found out that the number belonged to him.

Got a call from a guy speaking with an Indian accent, said he was from the National Crime Agency. He told me someone in Portugal was involved in money laundering using my details. Seems like just another scam trying to trick me into letting them sort out the “issue” and get access to my computer.

Got a call from a man who sounded Indian, claiming he was from BT. He said my internet would be cut off today. I told him that was rubbish since I don’t have BT, then told him to bugger off and hung up. Seems like one of those typical scam calls you hear about.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT saying my computer had issues. When i asked for a contact number, they gave me a 0208 London number which seemed dodgy from the start. I told them i was aware it was a scam, but then some 'supervisor' jumped on the line trying to convince me i needed their assistance. As soon as i called them out on it being a scam, he started shouting and getting proper rude. Total waste of time!

So I picked up the phone and this bloke with an Indian accent claimed to be from BT, saying someone was using my internet account over in California. He asked if I was the primary bill payer and what I used the internet for. When I started dodging the questions, he got rude and then just hung up. Pretty clear it was some kind of scam.

I got a bunch of calls back to back and each time the person on the other end would just hang up. Sounds like one of those auto dialling systems that ring loads of numbers, only connecting you to a scammer if someone actually picks up. If there’s no mug to try the “your computer’s been hacked” line on, they just cut off. But now, it seems their software flags answered numbers as live and sells them on. My best reply? Told them I don’t even own a computer, so no chance!
