12 yearsA chap with a foreign accent called me on Wednesday morning, claiming there had been some issues reported regarding the Windows software on my PC. He sounded like he might be from India or Pakistan. When I pressed him for details, he insisted his name was Harry Jones! I mentioned that I had suspicions this was a scam. He then rattled off a reference number followed by an incredibly lengthy computer ID, which was quite incomprehensible due to his accent. He attempted to clarify using the phonetic alphabet, but surprisingly struggled with a few letters, particularly the one for F. I told him I would call back from a DIFFERENT phone. However, when I tried the number provided, it was unreachable, confirming my fears that this was indeed a scam! It’s absolutely crucial we put an end to these criminals.
