Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming he was refunding me £40 from the electric firm since I’m a pensioner. He already had my name and address, which freaked me out a bit. Then he asked what bank I used, but I told him that if he really worked for the company (which he couldn’t even name) he’d have that info already. Then he just hung up.

Got a call saying it was EDF, offering £40 as a thank you for paying my bills on time, along with some discounts at shops. This number has rang me a few times over the last week but each time the call just ended before I found out what the deal was about. Bit odd if you ask me!

Some bloke with an Indian accent rang me saying he was from Smart Savings. He claimed because I pay my bills promptly, they wanted to offer me a £40 voucher to spend at Tesco, Sainsbury's, or Morrisons nearby. I asked where exactly he was calling from and he told me London, but then the call just cut off! Has Cromer in Norfolk suddenly become part of London or something?

So, apparently, my electricity provider is about to send me £49, plus enter me into some kind of prize raffle and also send me an Angel reward card that gives massive discounts from Sainsbury's right down to the corner shop near me. I was so chuffed hearing all this that I accidentally dropped the phone back onto its holder in a right bloody panic!

Got a call again today, 25/10/24 at about 10:05am. This is the second time they've rung me. My number is on the TPS list, but they just don’t seem to care. It was a bit dodgy - they asked for a certain person but wouldn't say why they were calling, claiming it was something about "DATA PROTECTION". Proper weird and feels like a scam to me.

Received a call from a lady but the connection was so poor I couldn’t catch what she was saying. The phone said it was from "international" but that’s clearly not right! Feels a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call from a lady talking about some trading thing, so I just ended the call. Then they phoned again twice and ended up speaking to my mate. They kept insisting that she passes me back to them. Honestly, it was pretty creepy.

I got a call from this number and the bloke only wanted to talk to me. When I asked who he was and where he was calling from, he told me not to be rude 🙄. He wanted a chat, then just cut me off and I had to block him.

Got two calls from the same person, first one was dead silent. Then they rang back using a different number, said their mic wasn’t working. The second call came from a French +33 mobile. They already knew my name, so I asked what they wanted. They made a weak joke and then just hung up on me. The fact they switched over to a UK landline afterwards feels like a scam to me.

A bloke rang me claiming his name was Tony, and when I asked him where he was ringing from, he said Switzerland. Bit strange since the number he called from showed up as a Cromer, UK line. He refused to talk to me and insisted on speaking to my husband, who wasn’t around - big red flag right there. My instinct told me it was probably one of those dodgy ‘boiler room’ scams. Checking this site afterwards confirmed I wasn’t imagining it. I just ended the call - best not to waste time on these shady calls.

Total rip off! Got a call from a woman with an American accent trying to push online trading. When I asked how she got my number, she claimed it was from some marketing app. Thing is, my phone’s on the TPS list, so I have no clue how they managed to get hold of it. I told her again I didn’t want to hear it. I kept polite but was clear. She snapped back with a bitter “Alright then, BYE!” and just ended the call. Honestly, it felt like dealing with a sulky teen who just got told no. What even is wrong with these people??

Someone rang up asking for my daughter, but they used her old surname even though she’s been married for more than 13 years. When I told the caller they must have the wrong number, they just wouldn’t believe me. I didn’t want to hand over my daughter’s actual phone number though. This caller has called a few more times now, still asking for her, and even though I’ve blocked the number, they keep trying. What’s worse, they won’t say why they’re calling. It’s proper frustrating!

Got a call from this number earlier. The person on the line said his name was Antonio and strangely knew mine too. When I asked what the call was about, he quickly got quite abrupt. He claimed to be calling from my office, but when I asked again, he refused to say where exactly. I was busy working and told him I didn’t have time for nonsense, but he just talked over me. Before I could end the call he muttered something about me cutting him off. I’ve blocked the number now and will keep blocking any others that pop up. Such a waste of time and really rude. So this woman called me, said her name was Melissa. When I asked what she was ringing about, she said it was some marketing thing, but she wasn’t keen on sharing much detail. My mate didn’t want to speak to her, yet she somehow knew about this course he’s doing. Proper weird. She was really unprofessional, kept pestering us even after I blocked the first number she used. Then she switched to another phone number that was just one digit different and called again after about half an hour, like she knew the first was blocked. It was honestly quite annoying. Even though she sounded cheerful, she made some pretty cold comments and dodged my questions about who she actually was. Took her ages to answer. When I told her my mate wasn’t interested, she said it was a “big mistake” to hang up on her, and bizarrely said something like she wasn’t trying to get him to be her boyfriend or whatever. Then I told her she was unprofessional and I didn’t want to hear from her again, added that if she had any decency or a heart she’d understand - but she just hung up on me. Not impressed.
