Got a call from some bloke called Adam Smith, he had my name and address right but asked me to confirm my date of birth. Said he’d ring me back about a refund for some bank charges I’ve been overcharged. Not sure, sounds a bit fishy if you ask me.

Got a missed call from this number, and when I checked my voicemail, it was some person (maybe 1 or 2) attempting a really off-key Michael Jackson "Beat It" with a loud call centre kinda noise in the background. A bloke called James Miller got in touch claiming he was from Claims Advisory Group. He had a strange accent, maybe Indian, and said I was owed cash for bank fees. I didn’t think the government would ring about something like that, so it sounded fishy. Then, another person rang me about an hour later, and my husband told them to stop calling as he was convinced it was a scam.

My elderly mum got caught up in this as well. She’s got early dementia and didn’t realise what was going on, just went along with it without a clue. Luckily, I was at her place when they rang again to “sort everything out.” I rang the Fraud Helpline and they said this kind of scam is really common right now. Honestly, I’d love to find those awful lot and give them a real proper hiding.

Got a call from a guy who sounded SE Asian, and he actually answered after a few rings. He wouldn’t accept me saying no and wouldn’t say where he got my number from. About 20 minutes later he rang again and this time I just told him to buzz off. That’s been about 2 hours ago now. Fingers crossed I’ve stopped him from bothering me again.

They rang me back on 1/7/16. Apparently, they'd been talking to Barclays (which I don’t use), and managed to recover £3600 for me. They said their solicitor would bring the cheque over, but I'd have to pay a 10% fee. I asked for when exactly they’d come by, and when they asked why I needed to know, I said I didn’t want The Fraud Squad left hanging. After that, the caller sounded less keen and just hung up on me.

When I told him to stop calling me (my number’s on the TPS register), he got quite rude. He asked about a woman’s name he was trying to reach. When I questioned if he was allowed to phone me, he started making inappropriate comments about this woman. In the end, he hung up when he saw I wouldn’t share anything.
