This number has bombarded me with five calls over the past couple of hours, thankfully blocked by my call filter. Plus, since about 9.13 this morning, I've had a load of calls from different numbers popping up. Seems like a classic case of scammers ramping up during the Christmas season.

someone rang me saying they were from the telephone marketing preferences team. they already knew my name and address, but then asked me to provide my account number, claiming I was being charged £4 monthly by direct debit. they offered to switch me to a one-off payment of £21.99 that would supposedly cover me forever. i don’t have any direct debit set up with them and kept saying no whenever they asked for my account details as ‘proof’. the guy got quite snappy and ended up hanging up on me.
