So I got a call with a supposedly great EE deal, but I told them it wasn’t an EE number. Then the guy went on about how he could tell I was a big EE fan and that I should really switch. After that, he rattled off loads of things he said I could get on my phone. I explained I was already tied into a contract and happy with it. He said they’d set up a new contract for me with a brand new phone anyway. I kept saying I wasn’t interested, then eventually hung up and blocked the number.

I struggled to make head or tail of the caller, who sounded as though they might be from India. They insisted they were representatives of ‘O2, your mobile phone service provider’. However, since I don’t even use O2, it’s obvious this was just a scammer ringing randomly through the phone book.

He claimed to be calling from Phone House, but it was clearly dodgy. I had a bit of spare time, so I decided to play along and asked him for his full name, the phone number printed on his credit card, the expiry date, and the three-digit security code at the back. He responded with some rather rude comments! Absolutely shocking! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Got a call from a woman speaking with a strong Indian accent, saying she was from O2’s Promotions Team. She was offering a new deal that included a 40% discount on the latest phone and unlimited calls and texts. I said I was fine with my current phone and contract, thanks. Then she asked what I’m paying each month and which phone I use. I gave her some random details and repeated that I wasn’t interested. After that, she wished me a good day and hung up. Probably one of the nicer scammy calls I've answered recently, but there’s no chance it was a legit O2 call.

I got a call from someone saying they were from EE, offering to cut my bill by about 35-45%. They were eager to find out how much I pay each month and asked for personal info. I questioned the caller quite a bit, and then they passed me onto a ‘manager’. When I asked how their offer could be real, the manager just ended the call abruptly, which felt really unprofessional and like a total con.

I got a call from someone who kept switching between saying they were with Virgin, EE, then O2 - it was confusing and felt dodgy. Definitely one of those scam calls trying to trick you into giving your bank info. I’m signed up to the TPS every year, yet these calls keep getting through like my info is up for grabs. Received a phone call earlier today; the individual on the line claimed to represent Curry's PC World, though her accent was quite strong. I attempted to clarify her identity by inquiring about her name and the company she was supposedly calling from. She insisted her name was Eda but mentioned she had no surname to provide. When I pressed her for the company information, she was rather evasive. Telling your phone company doesn’t really help much. If you’re getting scam calls or texts, you should report them straight to the police. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and head over to the UK police website. From there, find the phishing reports section and at the bottom of that page you can file your complaint easily.
