Got a missed call and decided to ring back. A woman’s voice came on, but it was one of those recorded messages saying this number was blocked and someone would get in touch again. She claimed it was from a university or college about accommodation, saying the portage team would contact me. Seemed a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call from an Asian lady saying she was from BT Openreach, asking about my broadband. I replied, “What do you want?” I’d already checked the number and felt it was fishy, didn’t sound like proper Openreach. Then she just ended the call, never called back. Seems a few others have said this number claimed to be from the TPS! Just a heads up.

Got a call from an Asian bloke named Paul. He kicked off with some questions and I kept saying yes, yes. Then he asked if I signed up with my visa card and wanted me to confirm the expiry date. I gave him a fake one and he said that doesn’t match their records. I told him well that’s what I got, then I ended the call saying something about TPS.

Cheers to everyone who's shared about this number. It's been blowing up my phone for days, and I've been ignoring it. Today I finally picked up and said, "Good afternoon, Call Barring Service, how can I help?" An Asian-accented lady asked if it was a business line, and I replied, "Yes, this is a call blocking service." She then said thanks and promised to remove me from their list! From now on, anyone calling from a dodgy number is getting that spiel when I answer.

Called and asked for someone we reckon used this number before and might be on some dodgy list. They hung up saying sorry after we told them that person hasn’t lived here "for years". Had a thick foreign accent. Caller ID said "International" even though 1471 showed this same number.

Got a quiet-sounding bloke with a strange accent asking me to verify my name, which I did. My wife had the TV blasting, so I told him to hang on a mo while I fetched the cordless to chat somewhere quieter. But when I answered, the call had already dropped. Got a call today at 12.38 from some Asian woman rambling on about "updating my call-blocking service" or something like that. Couldn’t make a word she said. Told her I don’t even have a call-blocking service, if I did, it’d block morons like her. If you’re gonna try scamming folks, at least get someone who can actually speak proper English. He asked for my debit card expiry date but couldn’t explain why he needed it. Got a call from a bloke saying he was from TPS and could block all my spam calls. He already had all my info and then started asking about my Visa card, expiry date and then wanted the stuff under my name on the card. That was enough for me, so I said I’m not giving out any financial info. He said no money would be taken but I wasn’t having it and hung up. He called straight back sounding rude. I told him no again and ended the call. Then he called once more and I told him exactly where to shove it.

Got a random call from a man with a South Asian accent. He said his name was 'Michael' and claimed he was ringing from 'Telephone Preference Management'. He was pushing some new service that supposedly stops all those annoying telemarketing calls. I asked him, 'you mean telemarketers like yourself?' and you could tell he didn’t like that. So, I just blocked the number. This is a notorious spam call centre from South Asia. Don’t trust what they say or give them any cash. Just block them straight away.

I've made it abundantly clear that I'm not keen on their so-called phone blocking service-it's quite ridiculous, to be honest. This number has rung us twice in just a couple of hours. My missus answered the first call and credit to her, she was polite but gave them a piece of her mind in perfect British fashion before hanging up. I wasn't quite so patient when they called back. We’ve been getting loads of these ‘international’ nuisance calls recently - they ring and when you pick up, nothing but silence before the line cuts off. Proper sketchy call, this number’s rung my nan 4 times now. Told her to put it on loud so I could listen in, some cheeky bloke with an Asian accent getting flustered ‘cos my nan couldn’t understand him. He knew her full name, where she lived and asked if her card was due to expire in 2019. By then I grabbed the phone and told him to jog on, said if anyone was gonna call about that it’d be the phone company themselves. Absolutely ridiculous how they go after older folk! NEVER share anything when they start asking about your bank cards.

I doubt the real telephone preference service would send idiots like these to bother folks at home trying to get you to buy something. Just got a call claiming to be from BT saying they were going ahead with some ‘nuisance caller’ upgrade. They kept pushing me to give them the last 4 digits of my sort code and the first 7 digits of my bank account! Scam alert. Got calls from loads of different numbers in the last hour. They even knew my name and address, which is worrying but not surprising these days. When I asked who they were, some poor bloke with bad English said it was about Home Sure, something to do with renewing kitchen appliance cover. Complete rubbish. Feels like they probably have a list from various places like insurance, PPI claims, home or car insurance, and are fishing for ID theft, credit card info or just trying to gather correct details to pass on to other scammers. Some woman called herself "Jessica" with an asian accent. She asked, "Are you getting lots of unwanted calls on your landline?" I said, "Yeah, actually I am." She was trying to sell me a call blocking service or something. The number showed as International, so it's clearly one of those fake spoofed numbers. Got a call from this number today offering a free service for our business to take credit card payments. They said we could start using it straight away and any card payments would show in our bank within half a day. They just wanted our bank info to get it all sorted. What a load of rubbish, proper scam if you ask me!

Got calls from this number at 6.56pm Monday, then again at 6.16pm and 5.59pm the same day. Luckily, I’ve got a BT Callblocker on my phone so it stopped them from ringing through. I get calls from other numbers too but the Callblocker deals with them all. Not really sure if there’s anything that can be done to completely stop these annoying calls though.

Somebody rang saying they were from the TPS, trying to update my info to stop unwanted calls. They already had my address and postcode and asked if I paid my bill by direct debit. I told them their call was exactly the sort of unwanted call I’m trying to avoid, told them to buzz off, and hung up. Have now blocked the number using BT Call Protect.

Someone said they were from TPS, but I said they weren’t. I was just about to get shouted at, so I decided to just end the call.

Got a call from someone saying they were with the telephone preference agency and that I needed to update my info. They mentioned my debit card was expired or something but said it was all free. I was suspicious when they started asking for my direct debit bank and card details. Definitely felt like a scam, very dodgy. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.

There was loads of noise in the background but not a single person said a word.

Some bloke called saying he was from the TPS, asking if I was still getting loads of spam calls. I told him his call was unsolicited too. He said it wasn’t, so I asked when I’d actually agreed to take that call, and why TPS would be ringing me anyway. He got all pushy and annoyed, then just went quiet and hung up.
