This woman said she was from some Payee investigation about Unlicensed traders and told me I was being checked for allowing payments overseas or something like that. Received a call from someone purporting to represent a financial recovery firm. When I inquired about the source of my details, he mentioned a company that I’m certain is completely fictitious. I made it clear that this is sensitive personal data, to which he insisted he only had my name and phone number. As I pressed him further, he simply repeated "No, no, no." He had a noticeable Asian accent. Frustrated, I finally told him to just bugger off.

Got a call from this number at 1.20 on Tuesday, May 1st. What annoys me is that no one questions how British Telecom seems to be helping these scammers. How come they can use a Banff area code? BT have the power to block them straight away, so why aren't they doing anything about it?

I never pick up calls from numbers I don’t know or from outside my area. Real people who need to get in touch with you, not just try to scam you, usually leave a voicemail explaining why they rang. These dodgy callers don’t bother with that. I stick to letting my answerphone deal with anything from strangers, only answering if it’s someone I recognise.

Got a call from someone saying they were with the telephone preference service, but as soon as I asked some questions, they just cut off. Tried to report it to TPS but they sent me over to Action Fraud instead. Then when I went to report it there, it kept saying today’s date was incorrect. Honestly, both of these sites are useless and just waste your time. It's no surprise these fraudsters feel so comfortable operating here.

I got a call from an Asian lady asking if I’d been getting any annoying calls. I said yes, and then she wanted to check my address and when my bank card expired. I asked why on earth she needed my card details for that, and she said it was to verify I was the right person. That didn’t sit right with me, so I just ended the call! Seriously, don’t pick up if this number rings you.
