I received an awkward phone call from what claimed to be a BT call centre. They were insisting that my IP address had been jinxed and that other IPs were allegedly piggybacking on my internet connection! They urged me to link up my laptop to let them 'sort it out' and prevent these imaginary addresses from making mischief. When I mentioned I didn't actually possess a computer, she quite dramatically warned that if I didn’t play along, my internet would be cut off within a day! How bizarre!

Somebody claiming to be from BT rang me saying that other people were using my internet from different IP addresses. They wanted me to get on my computer to stop them, but I told them I don’t even have a computer. Despite that, they kept insisting I connect anyway. When I said again that I’ve got no laptop or PC, they warned me my internet would be cut off in the next 24 hours.
