I got a call saying my internet was going to be disconnected, but they claimed to be from a company that's not even my provider! It's really bad how often this scams happen now. As you mentioned, some folks might get scared and end up staying on the line, accidentally sharing info they shouldn't or paying crazy charges. I worry most about older people because they're such an easy target for these sorts of scams.

Got a call claiming to be from Amazon Prime saying my subscription's auto-renewing unless I press 1 to talk to someone and sort it out. Total scam, don’t even think about pressing anything!

I got a call today from 01258745698 at about 11.20am on 29/5/2019, some bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be Peter Williams from BT. He said there was an issue with my broadband. When I told him cold calling is actually illegal now, he just dropped the call. What an idiot! It really winds me up these days, something needs to be done to put an end to these shameless scammers.

Got a call from 01258 745698 earlier, ended up messing with them for about 20 minutes. Some Indian lady saying she was from BT Openreach, trying to get me to check the event viewer on my computer after quizzing me about router lights. Then she passed me to her ‘boss’ who actually called me dumb. Just a heads up, this number’s definitely dodgy.

Some woman rang me purporting to be from BT, and as soon as I said "hello" when she asked if I could hear her, she just cut me off. I've had calls like this before from other numbers too. Definitely a scam!

Got a call on my work number from someone claiming there was an issue with my BT internet - definitely a scam. Also, not sure why that rant from 10/05/2019 is on here, it seemed really racist and out of place.

This one’s a bit odd. I keep seeing comments about a caller pretending to be BT, saying there’s an issue with internet service. I’m not a BT customer myself, but funny enough my internet dropped out just before I got a call from this number. Could just be a coincidence though! I’m curious if anyone else spotted any internet issues when they got called by this number? Seems a bit strange if it’s linked.

Today at around 1:08pm, 13/5/19, I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT Openreach about some internet issues. Turns out it was all completely fake and just a scam. She ended the call abruptly! DGM Bristol.

At noon today, I got a call from this number. The bloke had an Indian accent and was spouting nonsense about working in the same BT control hub. I wasn’t having any of it and called him a complete liar, then he just hung up on me. I’m this close to buying a phone that blocks these annoying calls once and for all. Honestly, what’s India doing with all this effort, wasting time and money just to hassle us? Around here, three Indian restaurants have shut recently - pricey grub and constant dodgy calls have worn everyone down. Not really missing them, to be honest.

Just got a ring, but hung up when it went to voicemail. They’re using a fake national number to try and fool people. Absolute scammers. Why on earth does BT let this go on? They’re just as bad as the con artists themselves.

Somebody rang me, saying they were from bt open reach and needed to know how many lights were glowing on my router. I told him we’re not bt customers here and I’m not the one who pays the bills. He just said that doesn’t matter. I told him I wouldn’t be doing any of that and when he asked for the name of the bill payer, I told him to sod off. Then he hung up. He had an Indian accent, if that helps.

Somebody rang me pretending to be from BT, saying there was an issue with my router being hacked. I called them out right away, told them they were trying to scam me and asked for their contact number so I could report it to the police. After a while, they just gave me my own number but without the leading zero, then got quite rude and hung up. They usually try to get you to go online and then ask permission to remotely access your computer - don’t let them fool you!

I just got a phone call from some guy with an Indian accent saying he was from BT open internet. He told me there was an issue with my router, but when I asked him which company he was calling for, he couldn't answer and didn’t want to tell me the address either! It was obvious he had no idea who he was talking to. Definitely a scam, don’t trust anything they say!

I got a call around 3.25pm today about some lights flashing on my router or something like that. I kept the guy on the line for close to ten minutes, hoping to waste his time instead of falling for it. After a while I just got fed up and called him out, told him he was definitely trying to scam me.

On the 29th of April at around 2.45 in the afternoon, I got a call from 01258745698. The person said they were from Open Bridge, not Openreach as I initially thought. They wanted me to count the lights on my router. I kept asking who they were for a few times, which seemed to annoy them, but the voice still sounded more like "bridge" than "reach". I told them I’d never heard of their company and ended the call. I’d call this harassment, but I guess it could be risky if they’re trying to scam people and grab their subscriber info.
