I recently switched my mobile provider from BT to Three and got a new SIM earlier this week, with my old number transferred across. This morning, I got a call telling me my SIM would stop working on 4G come Monday, but they’d be sending a new 5G one automatically. They said I had to log into the Three app and set a temporary password - I did get an email about a forgotten password from Three as well. Over the phone, they gave me a new password if I clicked a legit-looking link... It felt so real! But I wasn’t comfortable handing over access like that, especially with a password given so casually over the phone. So I told them no, and they just hung up!

Some bloke called claiming he was with 02 and said I could save some cash. I told him I’m not with them, then he pushed and asked who my provider was. I refused to say and told him he wasn’t my supplier and I was ending the call. He just told me to “go to hell”. Pretty clear that was a scam.

This number has been calling me several times throughout the week but I avoided answering. Finally picked up today and the caller said it was O2 offering a better deal. Then I got texts on my phone supposedly from 02. I told them I wasn’t interested and refused to give any personal info over the call. The bloke kept going on about not being able to switch off and having sent me messages or something like that. I just said goodbye and ended the call. After that, they rang me three more times. In the end, I blocked the number.
