I recently made the leap from BT to Three for my mobile service, and just received my new SIM card a few days ago with my old number successfully transferred. This morning, however, I got a rather concerning call informing me that my current SIM would cease to function on 4G as of Monday, but they assured me a new 5G one would be dispatched straight away. They requested that I log into the 3 app and set a temporary password, claiming they had sent an email regarding forgotten passwords. It all felt rather official when they provided me with this new password over the phone, urging me to click a 'genuine' link. To be honest, it was alarmingly convincing! I expressed my reluctance to share access based solely on a phone call, and unsurprisingly, they ended the call rather abruptly!

Some bloke called claiming he was with 02 and said I could save some cash. I told him I’m not with them, then he pushed and asked who my provider was. I refused to say and told him he wasn’t my supplier and I was ending the call. He just told me to “go to hell”. Pretty clear that was a scam.

The chap kept insisting that I couldn't just dismiss it, rambling on about the messages he'd sent. I got fed up and said, "Goodbye," before hanging up on him. He proceeded to call me three more times after that, which prompted me to block the number entirely!
