Got a call from someone called Jonathan Ledger - not sure that’s his real name - claiming to be from Hawton financial services. They were on about some time share debts and kept pushing really hard, which felt more like a scam to me. Tried calling the numbers they gave, but none of them went through. Properly sketchy and quite intimidating stuff.

On the 21st of June at around 5 in the evening, I got a call from 01256 594063. The person claimed I owed some money and started threatening to send debt collectors over. I just ended the call straight away. Then they rang back a couple more times and left some really unpleasant messages on my voicemail. Not impressed!

When I rang it, it just played some music and then the line cut off. The number I saw when she phoned me was 00 346 0338 5881. Seems dodgy to me.

I got a call at work from someone asking about this company, looks like the European Debt Recovery lot have started sending out letters and using the address of our serviced office as theirs. They’re definitely not based in our building in Aldershot. We’re just small local businesses here. I rang the number on the letter the bloke gave me and spoke to a woman named Suzanne, who picked up straight away but said their computers were having issues.

He was quite threatening, adopting a rather hostile tone, and made an effort to undermine any understanding I might have regarding financial matters. He seemed to imply that if I didn't settle some outstanding maintenance fees on a timeshare, I could expect to have my possessions removed from my house within a month. I'm still none the wiser about the scam's true intentions, but he was exceedingly insistent and even had the audacity to call me back twice after I had hung up!

Got a call earlier today from someone claiming to be with the European Debt Agency, saying they were chasing up a debt linked to my Hilton timeshare. I don’t owe anything like that, so I told them straight away. I also mentioned I’d looked into another timeshare outfit before, which wasn’t even registered with Companies House, and that I’d be checking this lot too. The guy ended the call pretty fast, said I’d done the right thing checking up and that he’d note my comments, probably won’t be hearing from them again. I looked them up in Basingstoke, Hampshire, where the call supposedly came from, and there’s no record of the company anywhere. Definitely a scam... blocked the number.

So on 22/06/23, a bloke calling himself "Jonathan Clark" (which I doubt is his actual name) rang me up claiming he was with some European Debt Recovery Service from Basingstoke - although I couldn’t find any info on them online. He told me there’s a European Order for Payment against me for timeshare debts supposedly dating back 4 years. I told him I always settle my debts on time, and he said he’d look into it and get back to me. Well, I’m still waiting and haven’t heard a thing since.

That’s not true at all - I’m fully up to date with my timeshare company, which I’m quite pleased with. It seemed like the caller was trying to scare me into signing up for some kind of ‘legal’ service with them, promising fake compensation if I went ahead. They clearly just wanted money for themselves. Honestly, this lot seem really shady and I’d stay well clear.

Got a call saying there was some European warrant out for unpaid Club La Costa fees and I had to settle up. Told them we ended our membership with CLC about 7 years back and even have proof we’re free from any fees, but they claimed the debt was passed on and still owed. Ended the chat right there. Definitely a scam. Have blocked the number now.

Got a call from a lady who said she was Suzanne Walker, talking about some European Debt Recovery thing to do with missing payments for a holiday company called ‘Lacosta’. We actually were part of a club at one point (not that one), but we left it about a year ago, so we definitely don’t owe anything - I even checked my credit recently to be sure. She sounded like she was trying to get info out of me, and when I asked her for details, she just hung up. Feels like a scam to me.

We've been getting loads of these kinds of calls from numbers that all seem pretty similar, and I reckon they’re just scams. I never answer them - if it was something important, they’d surely send a message instead of ringing so many times.

I let the call go to voicemail and then this robotic voice came on saying there was some dodgy activity on my credit card linked to a gambling website in the US, about £100 worth.
