I’ve no clue who’s behind this number. It’s likely some dodgy scammer since they didn’t bother to leave a message!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from BT, alleging they had observed that my internet was running rather sluggishly. However, when I pointed out that I'm not actually a BT customer, the call was abruptly disconnected. Quite the coincidence, I must say!

I didn't answer the phone and never got round to ringing back. Using 1471 showed me the number, though.

Got a call from a bloke saying my internet was running slow. I told him to get in touch with my IT team if he wanted to help. He just lost it, called me some nasty names and then slammed the phone down. Proper rude!

got two calls not long apart. the first one was filled with loads of noise in the background and then a woman just quietly said "goodbye" which felt kinda creepy really. when the second call came through, i noticed it was the same number on my caller ID, so i just let it ring out.

Got a call from some Indian lady who said she was with Openreach, telling me my internet was running slow. I humoured her for a while, but then she asked me to turn on my laptop so she could “fix” it for me. I wasn’t having any of it, told her to buzz off and ended the call sharpish.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT Openreach. She said our internet was being overused by loads of people in the area after 6pm and that they needed to inspect our computer. I just laughed and ended the call. Honestly, how cheeky of Openreach!

Heads up, there’s a dodgy scam going round where they trick ya into pressing the windows+r keys together, then they somehow get full control over your computer. Definitely stay clear of that and be careful!

After 6pm I’m gonna jump on her internet and see what kind of reaction she gets from it. Might be quite funny to watch!

Got a call from a guy with a Pakistani accent saying my internet was running slow. I told him it seemed fine to me, but he insisted it was slow. When I asked him why he thought that, he just cut the call! Strange encounter.

Some bloke named Steve Wilson rang me, claiming he was from BT and needed to check some technical details about my broadband. I mentioned the number didn’t seem to be a London one, but he said he was linked to my landline through the internet, so the number showing up on my phone wasn’t actually his. I told him I reckoned it was a dodgy call, which seemed to annoy him. I made it clear not to call me again and said I’d be reporting the matter.

There was a lot of noise in the background, sounded like a call centre for sure. I just said ‘hello’ once, then after a good pause, someone shyly said ‘hello’ back and then cut the call straight away!

Pretty sneaky how they faked a local phone number. But I doubt it was really BT tech support.
