Got a robocall pretending to be from the tax office, saying there was some kind of writ out on me and I had to ring a specific number. I just hung up and did a 1471 to check the number. Honestly, this felt pretty dodgy to me. If you get anything like this, best to call the tax office directly using a number you know is legit. Definite scam in my book.

Just a heads up, HMRC have made it clear that this robotic call is a total scam. They never ask for info over the phone, only through letters. So if you get one, best thing is just to end the call straight away. Don’t share any of your details!

I never got a voicemail, which is odd, and honestly it’s a shame they don’t have to pay for the call themselves.
